After all, everyone's at it' Not any idea of chivalry but playing by the rules and the spirit f the rules. There can also be pragmatism at work if we want there to be. The punishments need to fit the crime and then this kind of disgrace would no longer be seen to be 'worth it'. Believe me, managers, the biggest pragmatists of all, would put a stop to it just like that. I fear I sense in your reply that you think it's ok? Surely not.

I agree. I am no apologist for Puncheon - it was a bad tackle, but to put it in a violent intent category is overblown. A scythe tackle is not on the same scale as sliding in with a straight leg and studs showing that we unfortunately see most weeks. I can’t help but think had it not been KdB then this would barely have warranted a mention. The fact that MoD passed over it quickly (something they rarely do given the opportunity) is in my mind a reflection that this was a bad tackle, but not exceptional. Originally posted by Goal Machine
I just don’t get the violent intent part you refer to. It was terribly timed and happened at pace. Could have easily been a red but there are tackles equally bad most weeks. I think you’re going a little over the top, excuse the pun.

Really? As I say: one- eyed. Thank goodness that football fans with the view you have expressed are outnumbered by true fans of the game. If you can't find joy watching the likes of De Bruyne, Wilf and Salah, you need to watch another sport my friend. Originally posted by Brentmiester_General

Punch didn't intentionally go out to harm De Bruyne, but unfortunately with the City man being a high profile player the incident has been blown way out of proportion.

'Gripe' is that what we call it? Is this post about me 'flailing myself'? Just because it's De Bruyne? I couldn't give a s*** if Terriers fans aren't beating themselves up over the treatment of Wilf. No, not really my man. We obviously live on different footballing planets when it come to this issue. Originally posted by bexleydave

Oh my God. It does make me chuckle how one-eyed supporters can be at times. What Puncheon visited on Kevin De Bruyne was an act of violence. A disgrace that should have seen him sent off with a straight red and, in my opinion, result in a six match ban - at least. Not only was it illegal but downright dangerous. What's more, it didn't even stop the intended pass. It did, though, achieve the desired effect of stopping play and once again, cheating won the day. I even saw, I think, one simpleton on these boards PRAISING the disgraceful Puncheon for 'taking one for the team' ugh! De Bruyne has been one of the joys of the first half of season 17-18. It is, surely, talent like his that gives us all pleasure and reminds us that, despite the cheats, this is the beautiful game. I don't care if he plays for us or not. he is a genius and the reason we all watch the game, surely. Players like him and Wilf light up the game and we must all want the geniuses to prosper for the good of the game and the cheats to be outlawed. Someone on here complains that 'all the talk was about the pen and Punch's tackle'. Not on this site, it isn't. There has been a deafening silence about what Puncheon did. Rest assured, if such an assault had been carried out on one of ours there would have been an outcry on these pages. Yesterday was different, though, wasn't it. Punch is 'one of ours' I've been a Palace fan for many, many years and suffered the joys of that. Support them as I do, I'll never have time for what i saw Puncheon do. Shame on you Jason. Edited by Glazier#1 (01 Jan 2018 10.13am) Yes it was bad, yes it was cynical, but it was never a leg breaker, unlike the Deli Ali tackle on De Bruyne a few weeks ago. Did Ali get a 6 match ban, nope, he only received a yellow...

Well this simpleton still thinks Punch took one for team . I wouldn't say he injured himself or De Bruyne on purpose though ,that really is a rather stupid thing to suggest . To be honest I come from a generation when players used to make such tackles without so much as a telling off from the ref ,bookings and sending offs were reserved for really bad tackles and fisticuffs . I would rather have that any day of the week than the cowardly fouls , shirt pulling , faking and simulation that I would call cheating, not an open for all to see attempt (if poor one) to make a tackle . Get well soon Punch .

There was no real violent intent in it, it was just an awful tackle made in a panic, by a player who's u nfortunately really off his game these days, probably deserved a red even though the ref didn't think so. And it doesn't help your case coming across as patronising and superior either, have a little respect for posters who have a differing viewpoint to your own.
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |

Who are you to tell him to stop watching Palace if he doesn’t get a buzz from watching KDB or other teams players. I enjoy watching other games, but generally the ones that affect Palace, i.e hoping a team not near the bottom smashes one of our relegation rivals. I have little interest in City, or their oil money team, they have played good football this season and so they should for the money they spend.

Edited by Glazier#1 (01 Jan 2018 10.13am) Sorry I just don’t agree it was that bad. Yes he would have been better just grabbing him and/or pulling his shirt but the tackle itself was not from behind, studs up or two footed. It was a professional foul no more. If it wasn’t KDB there wouldn’t be the furore.
