I can handle Kelly playing at centre half but he cannot start at right back if there is a fit alternative.

We had just one problem - Jack Wilshere was
playing for them.

Now he has calmed down and has stopped his self-injury causing tackles he will become the best English born midfield general since Glen Hoddle.

Swap Benteke for him?

Based on what? Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes we're amongst the best players in Europe by the time they were Wilshere's age - he's barely completed a full season in a near 10 year career - Wilshere would do well to achieve half of what Michael Carrick has done, never mind getting close to the three mentioned above.

He was good yesterday, but nothing special - the pass for the 3rd goal aside, I don't think he stood out at all in that Arsenal side. Sanchez and Lacazette were far far more impressive.

What game were you watching, all of Arsenals midfield play was through him, found space and was always in the right place at the right time to cause us problems.

I suppose some might argue that he should have been aware of Mustafi at the far post who of course scored the opening goal.Maybe this is a tad harsh, I will need to look at the TV coverage.

Kelly looked back at Mustafi before the shot/cross came in, so knew exactly where he was. Mustafi would have been offside if the ball had been crossed to him, and Kelly was holding the line with the rest of the defense. I was mad at the time, but it's clear now that Kelly was doing the right thing.

As was mentioned above, the ball could not have fallen more kindly for Mustafi, who dispatched it with calm aplomb. Just one of those things.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

The main error was not pressing enough, and in the case of Benteke, at all, apart from a late show of it when it was obviously started too late to actually get there and actually close down, block or tackle.

^^ This. First half Zaha and Benteke didn't cross the h-w line when they had the ball. Can't give these teams the ball all the time.

Indeed. We can all be correct with the benefit of slo-mo replays from different angles. Zat right, Willo?

Roy is not getting the best out of RLC by playing him wide. If he continues to play 4 4 2 put him just off of Benteke and put Wilf back to the wing. RLCs defensive play is uselese so put him further forward

We've already got one world class player that rolls around on the floor and cries whenever he's tackled, not sure I could handle another.

Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot.

Sanchez is ultimately why we lost.

Wilshere's a massively overrated sick note who was let off the hook by the ref in the second half.

Obviously people want Benteke to disobey his manager and chase down defenders in their own half. When chasing the game we had to be more proactive and that's when we closed higher up, but the team were following their managers instructions, clearly.

Spot on. Was frustrating hearing people slag him off when he was clearly following orders. When Arsenal had the ball both he and Wilf dropped in to make it a 4-6-0.

TFM is clearly struggling to pick things up with the system which is why he isn't getting in the team. In fairness to Kelly, it was his challenge which robbed Sanchez of the ball and set up the first goal.

Also agree we looked better when we did get on the front foot, easy to say in hindsight but maybe we should have got at them more from the start. Having said that, we got beaten by two goals that, while we could have cleared earlier, were very well taken and a third that was inch perfect. We also created a number of good opportunities that we should have done better with.

The idea that Tomkins should just have started running towards his own goal when Wilshere had it before the first goal is ridiculous. You set yourself up so the other team have to execute something difficult to get through. In that situation, the pass had to be perfect, most times it carries through to Jules or we cut it out.

It's the same as the second Defoe goal the other week, people moaned that Dann let him shoot, but in reality he got himself into a decent position and forced Defoe wide. He left Defoe with only one option, and it's just unlucky that it was the one time out of twenty it was weighted perfectly and ended up in the back of the net and not row 20 of the Holmesdale.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

the tactics v Arsenal weren't about selection - we had two different formations each half, once Zaha went back to the right wing and Cheek came off the left back to an advanced central position we were more effective. Schlupp was a different player second half - he is a real athlete and if his ability to burst through the lines and turn defence into attack could be used more regularly he could be handy for us, cos lately he's looked so poor. Wouldn't put the loss down to individual errors either - we were basically outclassed but gave it a good go. Be interesting if Roy v City tries to do what Benitez tried the other night (a formation of 10-0-0) or is more adventurous like we were second half.

We must have been watching a different game. Can't remember wilf playing on the right or RLC playing more central. And schlupp had an absolute nightmare.

Totally disagree.

There was no pressure on the ball when Wilshere was in possession and one of our central defenders should have dropped off but they were caught square with Sanchez in the middle of them.Had this happened the player who dropped off could have cleared the ball.
