For £75 million I'd want a van Dyck, a Rubens and a couple of Rembrandts.

If he does go for this amount then any player Soton go in for the selling club know they aren't short of money so they can expect a larger than expected fee to pay for a player.

The vicious circle of transfer fees' amounts.

Given the state of the transfer market these days, I wouldn't let Zaha go for less than 125 million. Reasons:

1. The clubs who want him can afford it.

2. These are the very same clubs who are pushing transfer fees into the stratosphere, causing clubs like ours t o pay above the value of players we want. If we can be held for ransom (Benteke and Sakho), it's time we played the game the same way.

This is not to say I want Zaha transferred. He's red and blue through and through and Palace need to keep him.

Crazy, makes Zaha 85m in my book!!

Agreed! If the transfer market is going to go this loopy then Palace needs to capitalise upon it. Ideally, we'd keep Zaha who has been a game-changer for us all too often.

the massive fee will ensure other clubs keep away from your target. But its no guarantee the player will gel.

Pogba is increasingly looking like a lemon, totally lost and always out of position. And he cost the GNP of a small nation.

That is Mama's fee spend then... On someone who I think is ok but never have rated as top quality. Might be mistaken of course, but with the low level of Dutch defenders in general he has not managed to stand out in the national team either.

Is there an end to the madness, 75 m for a just above average defender?

You asked me in a previous thread if I was being serious when I said 20 million was too cheap for Tomkins in today's market . Now you now I was being serious and now you know why.

£75m for an average player is just plain crazy...to me that now values Tomkins at at least £50m...and I rate him more as a player than Van Dick...but I am taking into account his injury record and age.

Watch the Saints now go for either Dunk from the scum or Alfie Mawson from Swansea as they have cash to burn!

But maybe Pellegrino won't be at the club to be their manager.
