I know a lot of younger supporters don't care so much about it but for me when my kids or grandkids ask what I want for Christmas or my birthday it always has been and will be "Crystal Palace to win the FA cup". It's a pity that, the last time we came so close, the then manager was more interested in dad dancing than organising to protect our lead.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I bought the VHS of the 1990 finals (plural) when it came out, but I've NEVER been able to watch it. It's still shrink-wrapped! Not winning the cup that year still feels like a bereavement to me. Do you still have a VHS player on which to watch it as I thought that my elderly mother owned the only one left in existence

I went into John Lewis in the West Midlands today and they were using the recent Palace cup final game as a demo on one of their giant screens. It was good to watch Punch's goal again in 4K
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

Was slung out of the pub for giving it large when Smalling was sent off - have never seen their winner... and won't try
So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet. |

Only the other day I watched my prized VHS of Barbarians v All Blacks 1973 (when ‘All Blacks’ still referred to a NZ touring side, before the term got depressingly commercialised). Classic stuff!!

Gosh, is that the one I remember when the All Blacks won everything and then drew 13-13 with the Barbarians? And I don't even watch rugby!

UNlike most of you I just love gong to Wembley with Palace. We are the best fans. 30,000 people singing in unison is the best. Sure would have been good to win but we have won plenty of times ar Wembley. Remember the league cup when we won 4-1.

The game you are describing was the following year (1974) at Twickenham. 1973 was a Barbarians victory at Cardiff Arms Park, that included “the greatest try ever” - scored by Gareth Edwards. The whole match is a joy to watch, full of free-flowing rugby, in particular from Englishman David Duckham. I expect it’s now on YouTube, and I would urge anyone to watch it - and be surprised at how tiny and underdeveloped players were then compared to today.
