Why is there all this talk of him going? He has signed a 5 year deal, he is top dog here, we are planning a new stand to move the club forward. If you were him would you not want to play in a 61,000 seat stadium alongside Harry Kane and Dele Alli every week purely from a career perspective? He's only got 5 or 6 years until his pace starts to slowly slacken. I hope he stays but would totally get it if he leaves even though with a heavy heart.

The price of the seat isn’t a big influence on players. There is no guarantee Kane and Ali won’t leave, the wages Spurs pay players is known to be low, Zaha is getting double what Ali gets, that is what influences players. Anyway Ali is totally overrated as seen in the City game yesterday.

IMHO.....Wilf will only move, if HE wants to
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Too some extent I agree with Painter. I mentioned in my original post - that Wilf's future depends on the commitment and desire of the club. If we show desire and commitment to be a top 6 side - he stays in my book. There is no doubt he loves Palace - as do a number of others Sakho, made it quite clear in the summer that Palace was his only destination and now he is Captain. Add a bit more quality and depth to the squad; keeper, right back, another play maker and forward etc.. Then we're a match for anyone. Question is for Parish and the board are we going to build on that and our wonderful support and take us to the next level or are we going to remain "little Palace" that produces good players that we sell? Time is now - make a statement Parish - we are moving to the next level - Wilf is not for sale at any price, we are building the team around him to challenge the status quo. Come on Palace be loud and proud..!! COYP

Fact is at somewhere like Spurs there is a very good chance he will be facing teams like Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern over a four season contract plus the facilities will be first class and he won't be on less money. He loves Palace and he can always come back when he is 30 but truth is he needs to be on a bigger stage and I would love to see him at the Nou Camp tearing them apart. He just won't be able to do that with us and that is why I think he will leave. Not because he wants to but because he must.

Stories keep appearing in the press, presumably planted by Spurs, about how he is a cert to move to Spurs in the New Year, he's the perfect fit, he wants to move etc etc. Spurs up to their usual mind games, but let's hope Wilf is committed to us for this season at least.
