You're right Ward is also out of contract.

It says something about Roy that we want him to stay.

And Sakho.

Without MS, Ward is a Championship quality RB.
With MS he is top half Prem.

If anyone can recall such a transformation of a player by pairing alone?

So we agree then??

Nope, we have a 24 man squad. 24+3=27.
So unless the +2 are U21 we have to lose 2 players.

Maybe we do keep them all as you say and release Mutch & Lapado

New keeper + 1
New striker - Lapado
New CM - Mutch

I can see where you are coming from but I also feel Ward is very much a confidence type player.

I also feel of all our full backs Ward is the one to play as as a wing back the least. I suppose one has to be! I don't have too much of a problem with this as a full backs first important role is their defensive one but this seems to have been changing over the years.

Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in?

Roy was always a safe pair of hands. He plays non risky football. It suits Ward as it did under Pulis and Sam but not Pardew later on and Frank. Townsend gets little full back support. That's the drill.

For that reason it's sensible to keep Ward. Don't run before we can walk also, especially with us always having priority issues elsewhere.

It's frustrating I know but that's how we're playing to stay in the division and without key injuries for any length of time it'll work.

Didn't Mutch have a last minute loan deal fall through in August? If we can get him out on loan, if not permanent then we will only have to lose 1 other.

Wayne's going nowhere in January- we need 3 keepers. Roy has said as much as well.

Means eff all of he’s got a replacement lined up. We need better in the PL so he needs to GTF!

We need better than either of our current keepers BUT where are they. Even so it wouldn't mean we'd be 100% OK, the bottom four clubs all have excellent keepers.

We don't have to release we do not have to name in 25 man squad provided we have 25 other senior players. I suspect Damo and Lapado will not be named (they could go out on loan) As could Souare, Mutch and Kaikai

My thoughts:

Speroni - 1 year rolling extension until we have two other settled keepers we trust.

Ward - decent Prem player does a job more often than not. 2-3 year extension.

Yohan - wants to play his last football in France and is highly likely not to sign. Wish him well.

Damo - great servant but time to hang up your boots. Hope fully we find a role for him with the kids if he's good in that respect and wants to.

Macca - ditto Cabaye he wants to go Rangers and apparently he'll leave in the summer and won't sign an extension. Wish him well. Although I think he has a good couple years left at his level possibly given more game time this year by Roy he might sign a one year rolling deal. Do the same with Cabaye if possible.

Hennessey - 1 or 2 year contract unless we can identify two keeps and get them both in. We won't as we need to strengthen other areas too so keep 1-2 extension.

Sako - tricky one to call... on a huge wage as his transfer was free. So any extension would be a huge wage again I'd have thought, however due to lack of playing time maybe this could actually be negotiated down. I mean even as a free I don't hunk he's gonna get many offers on the money he's on now. Roy has another half season to work with him and maybe he'll improve further. Can see him playing himself in to a new contract and being a good squad player. - time will tell.

Kelly - 1 year rolling extension. Defenders get injured and we need to keep a healthy amount of back up. Can play good when not managed by someone stealing a living.

Chungy - sell / let go
Lapado - ditto

Then sign a keeper, two strikers and two midfielders.

RLC we should move heaven and earth to keep at Palace. We could build a team around him and Wilf for years to come.

I'd even crazily say we offer Benteke to Chelsea, they have rumoured to be interested in the past. RLC is a young highly talented player... he could be a devastating midfielder for years to come...
