Intrigued to why you think the formation is wrong. We are on an unbeaten run of 6 games, Roy and Ray have years of experience and watch the players training, so they know what they can do. I dont THINK I know better. I said - "He's done and is doing a good job making us hard to beat- the points tally since Chelsea is testament to that - but Roy's got to figure out how we get the 4 creative players working more effectively" Then I offered my opinion of what I can see - a winger not on the wing. a central midfielder/no 10 on the wing. Now maybe that is Roy's deliberate choice to offer some steel in front of Jeff. That is why I asked for thoughts. This used to be a forum where us Palace fans would debate such matters rather than take pot shots. You sir are an arse. Good day.

I think we need to rotate a bit. Didn't see the game last night, so can't judge Benteke, but he has been improving since he's come back from injury and desperately needs a goal to get him going.

Like the idea of Luka behind Cabaye, RLC and MacArthur midfield, Zaha & Andros free to roam and never again PVA on right back. But prefer him over Schlupp on left side, the former Leicester player seems to have more or less no idea of what's goin' on out there....

I think Roy is still exploring some of his options in terms of getting the best out of the manpower available. What I have noticed recently is that when we go forward we are using the center of the park as well as the wings. Before it was always the case of looking to get the ball out to the flanks as quickly as possible for Zaha/ Bolasie/Puncheone/Townsend, which did make our play somewhat predictable and one-dimensional. Also, and I don't think I am deluding myself here, but it seems we are attempting to play a better passing game with improved movement and lay-offs. Unfortunately, our passing isn't always up to scratch, nor our final ball into the area, but there are signs of progress on this front.

I agree, Towsned can count himself lucky he is getting the amount of starts he gets and can certainly not claim a place on a favored right. His drive inside brings absolutely nothing. Time for giving some time to some youngsters, not necessarily with a start but at least in the squad. As for central midfield: Cabaye is looking like he is struggling lately, maybe a rotating system with Cabaye, Jimmy Mac and RLC would be a good option And let's face it: last nights substitutes made us a mess. PVA looked completely out of his depth at the right and it was puzzling why Kelly did not come on when TFM was forced off. Would like to see PVA back at left back though even if he has his defensive issues at least he brings something forward and can not say I have been impressed with Schlupp. It is not a matter of thinking Roy does not know what he is doing, of course he is grinding out results. yesterday admittedly with luck and undeservedly but we were due a bit of that.

Yes, we're on a 6 game unbeaten run, but the performances haven't been particularly good. We didn't have a shot on target last night until the 88th min, Stoke was probably lucky too, as would have been against Bournemouth if we had won on Sat. WBA was a good point, but on paper we should be beating Brighton, and didn't offer anything going forward that night. One real chance if I remember correctly. These are all teams who are struggling, and on another day the result could have gone the other way - we're not exactly playing them off the park. RLC struggles to get into the game on the wing, and Wilf struggles to get the ball to feet alongside Benteke - yesterday's goals came from Wilf on the wing. But onwards & upwards, i'll take picking up points and not playing well... you just worry our luck may change soon if we don't up our level of performance.
Very good post. Any rose tinted spec wearers cannot deny this. Edited by Rudi Hedman (13 Dec 2017 12.14pm)
