Thinking about our past similar strikers like Bright and Swindlehurst, Svensson and even Shipperley and the effort and thought and team work they put in compared to Benteke..

Not good when still p1ssed off about yesterday.

Give us the headline - what did Roy say?

Let's face it, if he starts banging them in no one will care about the penalty anymore.

I like Roy's 4-4-2 though and I thought Townsend and Zaha were such an exciting combo as free roaming forward players as opposed to out and out strikers so as it stands I can't see why we need to even start him anyway.

Roy wants his players to run at defenders in the box, Wilf and Andros will do it all day long. Perhaps Benteke is better suited to sway games where we seem to sit off a lot more, but I personally don't ever see the point of bus parking hoofball when we're playing competitive rivals.

We're the Arthur over ere!

Benteke should never ever wear a Palace shirt again. Most go. NOW. At any cost.

Let’s face it his confidence was low and must be rock bottom now.
He hasn’t scored all season despite having chances culminating in that pathetic penalty attempt on Saturday. The rest of the team must resent him and the fans are going to voice their dislike for him on Tuesday.
Some say he has to put a shift in and score to win the fans back but we all know he is incapable of doing that because he is just a lazy b****** who can’t score for toffee at the moment.
His selfish, bigheaded and stupid actions on Saturday mean he can’t be trusted.
If I was manager I’d put him on the bench on Tuesday so that he can listen to the fans vitriol and only bring him on if we are losing near the end to test him out - otherwise leave him sitting there freezing. He has to suffer just like we’ve suffered watching him ponce about while on massive wages

He'll probably blame the rest of the team for not backing him 100% to take the penalty, arrogant tw*t

Get rid of him now. He's a £32m striker who can't score and is vain and arrogant as well

It's amazing how many psychologists we have on this forum claiming that he is vain, arrogant and self important without even knowing the chap.

His ex colleague Shay Given was asked on TV this lunchtime whether Benteke was arrogant and he said that he wasn't but he had self belief in his own ability.

Just watched it myself. Roy didn't say that Benteke was toast, or even imply it, even though he was strong (for Roy) in his criticism. Said Benteke deserved everything he got from the fans.

More angry with Dann and Luka TBH. Strikers are greedy and want to score goals, i can see how he wanted the pen, what i cant see is how anyone allowed it to happen. And Roy saying 'no one could wrestle the ball off him'. What bollocks. I recall games where similar rows have gone on, where the other party has just marched over and had it out, blaring rows at times. What did they do? Naff all. Pair of pussies.

If he believed he was a better penalty-taker than Milivojevic given his last few efforts then "arrogant" is about right. And the feeble attempt he then produced bears it out.

Haha its really amazing how little pundits know about the tw*t. They don't have to watch him every week.

His penalty taking ability ??? If he is ever in a penalty shoot out he should be last choice .

Ability means nothing without effort in this league !

As another post has stated I can't see him being in the match-day squad on Tuesday. It wouldn't even surprise me if he never wore the shirt for us again. It isn't just the fans he has upset with his actions, the rest of the team must be pretty angry with him as well.
