I'm definitely republican in regards to the royals, but also don't really see any urgency with 'doing away with them either'. I'd like to see them phased out, kind of in the way other European countries have done with their royalty. But its not a big issue in the grand scheme of things. Just an anachronism.

I think we rather like the link to the past and all the historical highlights. Britain has been good at that sort of thing. Never mind that it represents everything we reject in the modern world.

The problem is we have the worst of all worlds- paying through the nose for monarchs who have no actual power, and merely serve a ceremonial role.

This is exactly how I feel. If there was a referendum tomorrow I’d definitely vote to get rid, but I’m in no rush, there are a lot more important things to care about.
