Odd a royal wedding isn't classed as news
"Everything is air-droppable at least once." "When the going gets tough, the tough call for close air support." |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'congratulations to HRH PRINCEWILLIAM !' by Midlands Eagle Guessing this'll be unpopular on the HOL. But f*** the Monarchy. 300 million a year of taxpayers money that is apparently only justifiable by "tourism". If people genuinely feel the tourism we gain solely from the royal family brings our economy up to a net gain, I'd really question their reasoning. I don't personally have any issues with the individuals. By all accounts Harry seems a decent enough chap and he didn't pick the life he has. But the institute itself is an insult to a civilised society in 2017 Britain.

Fair play for bringing a mixed race lady into the Royal lot. They don't bother me the Royals. I can't bear the fawning over them though.

They wouldn't bother me if they genuinely did make sense from a financial point of view. But I simply cannot see how we'd lose £300m+ a year in "tourism" diminishing them. When immigrants, disabled people and single mothers get blamed for cancer treatment waiting lists and we apparently can't afford to fund public services adequately, that's when the institution winds me up. How much did we cut from Liz and co 2010 onwards?
