under Roy we've done ok and i think he deserved a bit of luck yesterday after good performances post Chelsea have yielded only 2 points. It's refreshing that he is prepared to drop players e.g Punch, when no other previous manager has done so. Dropping both Dann and Speroni yesterday was also quite a bold move. I think without Benteke and had to go to 442 and hope Wilf and Townsend could unsettle defences despite not being strikers. Yesterday i think we lacked a little urgency at times against an average Stoke. Neither McArthur or Loftus are wide players and both looked a little lost. Putting Benteke on at h/t was a bold move but we still played 442 until the last 5 minutes which was strange. Wilf looked lost at times second half. Luckily went wide in the end and we got the goal. Roy now needs to get things going away from home - no goals and no points is clearly a massive problem and we need to start scoring asap. Hopefully starting with the scum.

I said on a previous thread when Woy was 1st appointed that he would be a great appointment & given time to drill the players on the training ground we would improve. Performances are much better now,he"s not afraid to drop players & we are capable of scoring goals now. Ward looks like a different player now & whatever is happening on the training ground its working. With the players in our squad & with a few new signings in Jan we will have more than enough to stay up comfortably.

If we are to play Benteke, RLC, Zaha and Townsand (which we have too) then the formation has to be 4231. Benteke up top with RLC inbetween Zaha and Townsand. Behind them Milo and Cabaye and then the the 4 defenders. I think this will get the best of us going forward but can't really argue with what Roy has done to date.

Just on this, I am not sure the away form necessarily will improve that much as from what I remember about Fulham particularly was that he was all about home form. The year they actually had average away form they qualified for Europe if memory serves. But I think our team will certainly be raring to give some people bloody noses away from home starting Tuesday I hope.

Been impressed with him so far and I believe he's been kinda helped by two things. One is that he has a starting 11 and not many real options, although he hasn't been afraid to swing the axe. The other is that we actually have to win games. The football has been enjoyable because of this as parking the bus, going out not lose isn't an option just yet, we have to try and win. Even against City, Utd and Spurs we played some good stuff and the scoreline wasn't a true reflection of the game. We need 4 points from these two away games IMO, so we will be proactive again I feel.

I recall wondering what Roy could do with such a shambles and the transfer window a long way off. I thought we may be down before the next transfer window, the way we were going. Well done, thus far
I disengage, I turn the page. |

He puts the Roy in CRoydon! Love the man. Complete gentleman in all his press conferences and respectful to everyone. Proud to have him on board and never understood the disappointment on his appointment by some. Remember Allardyce taking the piss out of him in that Telegraph sting. Sam might be a decent manger but not fit to lace Roy’s boots in the gentleman stakes.
