It is worth repeating, because the alleged gunmen carried IS flags, that Islamic State is nothing to do with religion It is a well organised terrorist group, intent on making money for the leaders. Terrorist use religion as a flag of convenience for killing and robbing

Don't the strict application of Sharia law and particularly it's treatment/execution of apostates who leave or disrespect the faith show that I.S is very much about a form of Islam and is obviously driven by religion. I.S volunteers from the UK seem to say they go due to the desire for a "purer" Islam. IS followers' faith in a militant & violent form of Islam is obvious.

Terrorist use religion as a flag of convenience for killing and robbing Islamic state is everything to do with Islam. They wouldn't exist without it. Mohammad was a warlord who attacked his enemies. Anyone claiming that IS isn't Islamic is painting a very selective picture of Islam. What is fair to say is that they represent a school of Islam and not the whole faith. Most of the Islamic world isn't interested in the IS method of strict Sharia governance even if they may share some of their beliefs. However, 23 percent of British Muslims wish to live under a form of Sharia governance instead of British Law...and we have Sharia courts operating in this country..that is also true. (ICM 2016) (ICM 2016) 21% of British Muslims decline to condemn stoning adulterers (5% openly support them). I could go on...but those who care know. Not all Muslims....just under a 1/4 of them....living in the country with views incompatible with western values.
