IMO only substantial house building programs of low cost housing will affect the market and bring prices down. ...except that there isn't a builder in the land who will build substantial amounts of low cost housing because they don't make enough profit from them...... just look at how virtually all planning applications include enough to get the permissions, then they haggle the figure down by 50% or more as they can't take the financial hit and will stop all the building if they don't get the reduction. Happened on a least 4 sites in the villages around here already.
