Just seem to remember him on here endlessly moaning about the BBS.Do you remember that? Your post reminded me of that.He would gratuitously refer to them as imbeciles or the like for no objectively good reason..was rather sad, actually. He then got red carded twice on here, didn't he?..Which rather indicates it was him rather than the "politics" of the BBS that was a problem.

Not really. I don't remember much these days. Anyone who is Right of the centre should be moaning about the BBS. It is a disgrace to the club and run by a clique of Lefty loons.

I agree, they are a disgrace. I've read posts on there that actually advocate bombing the government. I hope the security forces are keeping tabs on them.

Surprised this isn’t getting more press really but not convinced it’s as sensational is it sounds. Have a very poor understanding of the law but as I understand it this was tabled as an amendment to the Withdrawal Bill by Caroline Lucas MP. Presumably this means that inclusion of this particular matter was not going to happen automatically under the proposed bill. I have read that this matter was protocol arising from the Lisbon Treaty. As it was described as protocol and not legislation, I am assuming that this is not actually a piece of EU law hence the need for an amendment to ensure this particular matter was transferred. I can't understand why MPs would vote this down unless there were additional complicating factors. Is this more simply that they do not want to open the floodgates on new legislation transferring protocols which have no supporting EU legislation and so this issue has been a victim of circumstance rather than some policy to diminish animal rights? Or am I being far too generous? Is there a lawyer about who can make things a little clearer? Anyway, without a transparent explanation, terrible PR.

yeah no one in their right mind would say that animals don't have feelings but for whatever reason this is what they have done. People put their trust in these people and this is what happens. Whatever their reasoning a vote like this opens them up to serious questioning and brings greater doubt to the choices they make. How is anyone expected to trust politicians when they make these kinds of decisions?

If this is actually true it would have been the lead story in most media as well as providing the material for a Radio 5 phone in so I'm thinking that some journo with a mission is trying to make something out of nothing

The government didn't decide, the MPs voted on it. It is a pointless piece which is why I assume it was rejected. You can't suddenly go around killing and harming animals (after leaving the EU), as the other laws already cover it.

It's odd that something as complicated as this has been reduced to 'Tories say animals don't feel pain'. Edited by johnfirewall (21 Nov 2017 2.47pm)

Tories say 'animals do not feel any pain'. But the voters they feel pain all the time. That's why they vote for us.

Edited by johnfirewall (21 Nov 2017 2.47pm) That explains it more than the idiotically simplistic, and incorrect, line from Gervais. They lumped a load of other things, that weren't to do with this, in with it.

Reminds me of all the weasel fighting that goes on in East End boozers. 40-men in a room standing around in a ring, someone pulls a string and a bag of weasels cascade down on to them. I've seen a man die weasel fighting.
