I believe that the clause states that it is any new employer in football that has to pay the compensation to Palace. Not Allardyce himself. SP would not go for SA over changing his mind he merely exercised his release clause at the time. Retirement as a reason doesn't have to be permanent!

That would be unenforceable, Big Sam will be on the hook for the payment knowing full well that the new employer will make the payment on his behalf. I would expect his agreement with Everton would be they setlle the liability with Palace direct.

Just a thought. It's only Pulis and Allardyce. Pulis never seemed attached to the club and I think only ever wanted the money. Sam needed a way back into football, did a good job and then left. Both were brought in to stave off relegation. Both got tasty bonuses. Neither arrived with a pre-season and a transfer budget to mould their style. That's part of the problem I think. Hodgson is a different fish in my view. I liked Sam, but there is something slightly shady about him. I never liked Pulis despite what he achieved for us. Hodgson has at least some attachment to the club and the area and I think if his health allows he'll be here at least until the end of next season whether we stay up or not.

Agree-stability is required be that in the EPL or not!

I hate to seem to be churlish but I'm wondering if the death of his friend was just a co-incidence. The attack on Manchester Arena happened at about 10:30pm on Monday night with no details released of fatalities for a couple of days yet Sam arranged a meeting with Parish in London on the Tuesday morning, cleared out his desk at Beckenham later that day and released his statement on Tuesday afternoon. If the death of a friend was a major part of his thinking wouldn't Parish have suggested that he sleep on it for a few days rather than rush into anything? Originally posted by Beastie
No! An acquaintance died and he resigned the next morning, like you do. And he didn’t even consider the millions of pounds he may be owed. That’s what happened. Show some respect etc.

Are you for real, you have no idea of the relationship the Allardyce family had with the poor woman who died.
