Yep. Yet those very same Vietnamese got rid of American-backed Pol Pol whilst the French, the US, the U.K. and everyone else stood idly by whilst he murdered one and half million of his fellow countrymen. Have you finished reading up on Kerala yet? Comrades killing other comrades - like Hitler killing his Brown Shirts.

I have prepared one of my own time capsules. I have placed some rather large samples of dynamite, gunpowder and nitroglycerin. My time capsule is set to go off in the year 3000. It will show them what we are really like. |

Communism in Vietnam was a failure....like it is everywhere. Their switch to capitalism is all the evidence required. As for the Gary Glitter stuff. Everyone and their dog know that questionable western men visit and/or investigate lower developed countries for women because they can take advantage of people's desire to escape to the west. The vision of the plain looking older guy with the hot Asian bird is a cliche. We know the story. It's always been a bit pathetic.....but plenty people are a bit pathetic and for most it stops there However we know that sexual predators on the young are also amongst that crowd who visit these countries. Because these countries have less social infrastructure and different attitudes and unfortunately preying on the vulnerable becomes easier for them. Thankfully Gadd was found out....however I suspect that many aren't.

In any event I think you have confused Vietnam for Cambodia which is acknowledged for its notoriously lax judicial system and weak law enforcement which has created a reputation as a safe haven for child sex offenders

Technically Vietnam is still a communist country as its still a single party state but like China has also embraced capitalism ( as has Cuba to an extent). Communist economics probably can't co exist in a predominantly capitalist world market.
