Yep, his Mars proposals are far more adventurous than Nasa's. Let's hope he's on the money with what's possible.....I'm not sure how the low gravity affect on the human body problem can be very easily solved myself. Right now, the only thing that stops bone wastage is gravity. A lot depends, then, on how long the outbound trip is vs. how long the stay in Mars' gravity. Still Mars has less than 40% of Earth's gravity, so its effects will be muted.

Amazing fella. I also have more confidence in him to get to Mars than any of the government agencies, and I'm sure he'll be at the leading edge of innovation for years to come, as well as much of his stuff having benefits for mankind in general (in terms of cleaner energy etc). The model 3, but they're behind on production. I think his Space X, battery business (for now) and his Mars stuff is all very interesting and progressive. Hyperloop ain't happening in my opinion though. Ps. And his "life is a simulation" stuff is bonkers. Edited by Stuk (06 Oct 2017 3.26pm)

One of the things that he's already done that doesn't get as much fanfare is his solar roof shingles and PowerWall system. Stil expensive, yes (as was the Roadster when it forst came out), but as prices drop this will become de rigueur for home building. Right now the payback is too long for it to be considered financially viable for most people. But if municipalities start to think a little bigger, imagine how much they can save on infrastructure cost if that new 5,000 home sub-division is built with Tesla's solar systems? They won't have to worry about adding the generation and transmission capacity necessary to power all those homes who would be all-but self-sufficient in electricity. Better, they may add to the grid during the day once they've topped off their PowerWalls and haven't yet got home from work/school. Extrapolate that out to all new construction. Everyone can have a normal-looking roof and yet everyone's house is its own little power station. You want to get rid of coal and nuclear power? Have every home generate its own. I saw a presentation recently from Wood Group where they showed how solar and wind technology is getting cheaper and more efficient more quickly than anticipated even 5 years ago. Same with battery technology - for which Tesla is at the forefront - particularly as regards manufacture and recycling. He used a "toy" electric car to prove his technology, added a luxury model to prove he can build cars, added an SUV which goes mostly ignored (despite being very good) and has now produced a family car to compete with the "name" brands. This was exactly by design from long before the Roadster hit the streets. He has a plan for solar too, and it's coming along exactly as its meant to...

He's pretty much a new age visionary who's not afraid to make mistakes and throw money at the wall to see what works and what doesnt. People don't realise it now but he'll be lauded for centuries to come as a pioneer that re energised (punn intended) a stagnant civilisation

Do you not realise he is an alien from Mars. He got stranded here and has been waiting this long to find a way back, or even worse, to send a ship to his planet so his 'people' can take on human form: Attachment: 306529.jpg (38.22Kb)
