I liked both Gayle and FFS Murray but will be happy if neither of them do anything this season if only to shut up those who can't let them go.

Be particularly happy if Murray doesn't score a goal all season.

Brighton away. 0-0. 80th minute. Brighton decide to go for the win, throw on Murray.

90th minute - Murray, back defending a corner, tries to clear with a spectacular diving header, but thumps the ball into the corner of his own net.

Ill stick by that 5 games in

I read but rarely comment on this site, but I've reset my password and logged in specifically to say that your posts are dreadful. You, in fact, are dreadful.

Hopefully this will give you the attention you crave so desperately. And if not, "well done, you were right about Gayle and Murray" *pats head*

Thank you for your time.

I would be happy with either still in our squad right now.
They "get it" and they would be back up and competition for Benteke.

We're a couple of years on from the Liverpool 3-3 now and they most certainly were the best strike partnership we've had in recent years. They took that game from liverpool by themselves.

I think Delaney may have something to say about that! Quite simply the best atmosphere I have ever experienced with Palace. Incredible night.

Bloody shame his recent performances don't represent that of a roller.

Hardly; Gayle understands football.

Croydonlad. A legend in his own mind. He's only ever been wrong once - and that's when he thought he was but he wasn't.

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

Don't get me wrong, I loved both players in their time however rose tinted glasses is never a good way to look at old players. Shearer used to be good, Keegan used to be good, Dalglish too and people rightly continue to swoon about their goals, but they aint playing football any more and there is a reason for that, they are are all past it, as is Murray and at this level so is Gayle (although I would argue in his case he has never been good enough for the Prem). We do not need them or want them, the european leagues are full of young talent, we just need some decent scouts to go and find it, rather than wasting money on fellow premier clubs has been cast offs.

In Gayle's highest scoring PL season he managed 7 league goals; ditto for Murray. Not great, admittedly.

But last season our back-up strikers were Wickham and Campbell (let's just pretend the whole Loic Remy thing never happened). Wickham's never scored more than 5 league goals in a PL season; Campbell's top score is 6.

Gayle and Murray also have better scoring records than Wickham and Campbell in the Championship, too.

If Gayle and Murray aren't good enough for the Premier League, that's probably also the case for Wickham and Campbell.

And therein lies the real problem: failing to upgrade. (Although this season we seemed to have solved the problem of having substandard back-up centre-forwards by not having any back-up centre-forwards.)

Ask me about Ronald de Boer.
