I would humbly suggest that in broad terms, playing away in Europe and then having to play a few days later possibly has an effect depending of course on team selection. We are not likely to be in this situation for many a year ! Yes Everton have let in 12 goals in 4 games and not scored in any of those games and it is generally felt that they should have strengthened their strike force following the departure of Lukaku. They were linked with Giroud but of course nothing developed. How this affected the Everton players is of course unknown to me but all I am saying is that it could have been a factor. Edited by Willo (18 Sep 2017 8.02am)

At the end of the day I am not an omniscent sage or a panjandrum and as I have mentioned before I am far more self-deprecation than self-promotion.Certainly less cerebrally blessed than many on here.

My only comment is that if we loose by only 1 o 2 goals in out next two games then we can consider that a good result compared with Everton and Watford. Get a point and we'll be heading for Europe next year!

We've both made mistakes in the transfer market we have that much in common. They spent all of the Lukaku money without actually replacing him and are now trying to shoehorn Rooney into the side. Seems to contradict everything they have been trying to do. Benteke looks tailor made for them.

Look at Lukaku's work rate compared to Benteke. However, if they come knocking I would gladly take £35m in January for him but only if we have 2 quality strikers lined up to replace him beforehand.
