There was a number of times yesterday when we cleared it long in the air from defence or from goal kicks and he moved less than 3 yards towards the ball and he looked at it going 5 yards or more to an opposition player.

Even if he is a big lump that is no excuse. He needs to be running, chasing and harrying, if not then he is not much use whilst we are playing one up top. If he can't do it give Ladapo a go, or play them both.

He needs to play in the championship (be careful what you wish for), unfortunately for us the premier league has evolved from stick it in the mixer for the big bloke and was a poor buy both in how much we paid for him and what he gives to the team .

He probably needs to play in a two rather than a lone striker

Never had any problems as a lone striker at Villa.

He doesn't need to dash around the pitch like Shane Long to put himself about. I want to see all 6 ft 3 of him fully committed to challenges, but when was the last time you saw that? When was the last time you thought a defender might be scared by the prospect of facing Benteke?

Going in for tackles and getting injured is the last thing we need so I can see that as maybe a reason. Haven't seen anything like him mugging Dann for the ball though. Or that floor pass he ran on for to get the penalty dive for lfc at selhurst.

His best spell at Villa was when they played 4-3-3

Hate the guy but he gets in defenders' faces and must be a sod to play against.

All he can do is head the ball. Such One-trick ponies are very easy to defend against.

Hit the nail on the head there. He is downright lazy and does nothing but wait for the ball to come to his head...then he fecking misses ..He needs to put himself about a lot more and go in for tackles he is bl00dy big enough but by all I have seen is a striker who is sh1t scared to go too close to a player coming at him in case he gets hurt. It was mentioned yesterday by AP on sky during the match Benteke needs to be taken to one side and told in no uncertain terms he MUST DO MORE and get himself into the game more than he does now. He misses more chances now than ever before I am afraid and needs a kick up the back side to get him motivated!

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Shane plays a mean guitar too - Nobby Solano plays trumpet and is seriously good and Dion Dublin plays sax and Petr Cech is a drummer.

I sit in the holmesdale upper, and it is a constant frustration to see his lack of movement in the box. I purposely watch him now to see if he makes any kind of movement to lose markers or create an inch of space and he doesn't. I don't expect him to work the channels, I know that's not his game but come on he has to work a bit harder in those situations.

Unfortunately, there isn't much incentive for him to feel the need to do more. It's not as if we could possibly drop him from the team until he bucks his ideas up.

If you look at his overall game versus the obvious comparator, his Belgium international Centre Forward rival, Lukaku, there is simply no comparison. Lukaku runs at goalies and defenders like he means it, constantly makes runs into free space and is good at spotting his colleagues' runs and making appropriate passes. I'm not saying Benteke doesn't ever do that stuff... but it's pretty rare from the games I've seen.

I guess that's the difference between circa £30m and £75m.

I know we've been unlucky with Wilf and Ruben out together, but I'm sure Benteke could be (and should be) doing better.

Such a load of bollocks it's unbelievable.
Can only head, of course that's right. The premier league is full of poor, poor players who could only do one thing and for 5 years too. If only he was as good all round as all of you experts on here, still we can't all be perfect.
Evertons expert fans were trotting out the same s*** about Lukaku last season. They've been proven right this season obviously.
Seventeen goals for a relegation threatened team really is s*** isn't it. Luckily for us the rest of the team chip in with goals isn't it?

As Jamie Redknapp said in last Sunday's Mail commenting on the Southampton match ....".Benteke is a lazy bones, offers no movement, easy to mark" I have said it before but he needs to do more, a lot lot more. As for the 17 goals last season, that was last season. Shame as he has a lot of skill.
