Rubbish, A forward needs service and he has not had that today. Our midfield was weak and played to deep. Most of their central players had time in the ball. We either need to play 4 or 5 in midfield with Milo playing. Puncheon is a complete waste of space. Ever since he has been made captain he has flapped his arms about and blamed over players for his mistakes, the man could captain a bag of teabag.

Loftus-Cheek has put it on a plate twice for him this season and he's still missed!! Loftus Cheek did this with a bit of commitment and effort driving into the penalty area, which is exactly what you never see from benteke!!

The most frustrating thing is the drive forward, followed by the stop, 360 on the spot, and lose the ball.

He is getting absolutely no service whatsoever. He scored 17 goals last season. Change the service and support his knock downs and he will come good. It is not him that is rye issue it is tgevrest of the team!

Benteke is lazy, easy to mark and when he doesn't get the service does precisely nothing to help the team. We don't need luxuries at any time and definitely not now. Prima Donna!!

I agree with the general thrust of these comments.Just stands up there hoping for the ball and is beaten far too easily when it comes up to him.Yes he did manage to knock on one or two but generally he was well shackled.Need much more energy and movement from him.

Benteke must have won at least 10 headers today with 5/6 lovely flick-ons and only once did any of our players(Punch) have the intelligence to make a run while the ball was mid-air attempting to get on the end of said flick-on. Also there were two great bits of skill where he controlled a punt up-field by Henners on his chest, held the ball up brilliantly, and went past the bloke defending him. But yeah lazy, lets get rid of our only fit striker eh!! Ollie's Dad,Ash.

Agreed, there is absolutely no quality behind him to give him the service. It's no good saying he has had two guilt edge chances this season and has missed them both. Strikers need 3 or 4 chances a match to score a goal or two. The service to him has been terrible and was again today. Townsend didn't get one decent cross in today and nor did either full backs. It's no wonder he's looking and acting frustrated. Given the service he will get 15 to 20 goals a season and that's good enough to keep us up. Trouble is there isn't quality or organisation in this team to do it at this moment :-(

Who said anything about getting rid of him? What he needs to do is change and that means putting himself about, let the oppositions defence know he's around and become a real threat. His work rate and all round energy also needs to hugely increase. Sell him now? Hell no, he's not getting away that easily. Must start earning his wages!

The guy is playing the role he's asked to play and being badly isolated. Now, yes he could run from one defender to the other putting on pressure, but as no one else is within 20 yards of him what exactly would be the point? If you're gonna press you do it in packs not individually.
Benteke will have two or three droughts during the season like all forwards generally do. When he's going through these the others have to get their fair share to lessen the blow. Unfortunately we have no one in the team, it seems, who can score more than three in a season. We are unable to manufacture a finish when within 8 yards of the goal and no one seems to have the technique to hit a long shot when it matters. We see all that training footage of goals raining in, but when the pressure is on they all seem mentally weak.
Today Benteke had one chance and he managed to get a ball crossed behind him on target, that's all you can ask. Keeper makes a wonder save and there's nothing Benteke can do about that. Difference between every keeper in the league and ours is all the others make these unbelievable saves, ours never does.

I know that everyone thinks its just panick finger pointing as we have just lost again ,but my issue with benteke is hes so easy to mark up from a defenders point of view.
Hes no threat at all going forward and even one on one situations he never seems comfortable with. I cant beleive theres any defences out there thats actually worried about facing up to him except perhaps when we get a corner.
Their player LONG was an example of how to move into space and drag defenders about etc and cause defences problems.
I agree hes a luxury player that doesnt fit at the mo. Give me 2 players for the same money as him that will at least run about anyday and at least a midfielder may score using the space.
