I agree, we should move on. Not sure about letting Neville in however.... whats the long term plan then?

Once we've only won twice in 34 games I'll start missing Pardew...
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

I may be in a minority here, but I really do wish we had stuck with pardew. Everyone is talking about picking a manager with longevity, and giving them opportunity and I really do think pardew suited palace down to the ground. I know he had an awful run and to be fair we arguably have him too much time, but I do honestly think he would have got us out of that slump eventually. We played some very good, exciting football under pardew, and watching the behind the scenes footage of him giving the team talks and the way he managed, he just seemed to really motivate the players. Listening to the way he talks about our owners and just football in general, he's an honest bloke and very palace. This is just a stream of consciousness and I know not many will agree, but I'd have pardew back over hodgson any day Can you please explain, 'I know he had an awful run and to be fair we arguably have him too much time, but I do honestly think he would have got us out of that slump eventually.' How on earth does giving him too long then mean he'd have got out of the slump? Have a think. And, 'he just seemed to really motivate the players.' Did you see some of the sh1t goals we let in last season? Conceding from our own corners at Burnley. In the lead with a few minutes at Swansea v Bob no hope and we lose and ginger walking through our defence and 4 players at hull. I know you're desperate but we're not that desperate and neither are anyone else going by his tv work. You sound very young to have early signs of dementia. Edited by Rudi Hedman (16 Sep 2017 6.07pm)

Well that performance looked Pardew esque to me... brainless, forced, gung ho football. Attacking with no sense of control, awareness or patience. Only thing that was missing was a couple more scrappy goals at either end! If Frank was ever accused of "passing for passings sake", that just looked like "not passing for not passings sake" to me. This "vision" Parish insinuated in the summer was a load of nonsense if you ask me. The real problem was any experienced, no nonsense English manager (big Sam) takes one look at this squad and makes it emphatically clear that proper investment is needed or we're in for a season of pretty much the same. Frank spoke about integrating youth, coaching players to become better footballers etc. and Parish thought it was the perfect opportunity to chance his hand, promote the champagne dream on a white ace budget, whilst then using FdB as a scapegoat if it goes tits up. Having said that, he didn't seem to think that last part out too well as the majority of Palace fans and footballing world weren't as stupid to not see straight through it when he only gave him 4 matches in charge. Should've probably worked on his poker face and strategy of deceiving the fans a bit more, but maybe thought he could save himself when he came to Twitter the night before the sacking to call out any Palace fans that dare speak a negative word in his name whilst the "we lost to scunthorpe 4-0 6 years ago" brigade rushed to sing his praises and tickle his ego a little more with countless likes and retweets. Still, delighted to of reverted back to the "Palace Way".

That isn't a rumour because I know where it's come from. Probably not for this thread. Also there's speculation Parish wanted Frank out before the season started. I don't know when exactly but I can understand why. I'd have had him out after Frank's training ground interview unless Frank heeded some warnings.

I agree with this post. Seeing Pardew talking sense in the Sky studio inevitably made me wish he was in the dressing room.
