Completely agree. Couldn't make it up... Steve was also quoted as saying how much the players were on at him to sign him. The players love Sakho and it obvious how much leadership he brings. Only on HOL can you find people moaning if it was a FdB signing or not.... Agreed. Having said that I don't think CPFC/SCCC was wrong to bring it up, he was just saying it was unusual for a Chairman to make these remarks, which is true and worthy of note.

Crystal Palace have won just nine of their most recent 36 league games. More than half these victories came in the 7 games in which Sakho played a full ninety minutes

I'm confused as to why it's unusual for a chairman to say the fans and players had been asking him to sign a player..? Have I missed something as I just don't get what is unusual about it?

Its unusual/remarkable (not bad) that a Premier League chairman reveals that fan pressure (rather than manager pressure) has influenced transfer policy.

Not really that unusual, most of the big clubs bring in a marquee player to appease the fans. The foreign clubs even have them out on the pitch doing a few kick ups to please the fans.

True, not unusual atall, but unusual that a club chairman in England is so candid about it publically, personally I think this kind of transparency is refreshing.

He bought him because he's a bloody good defender who gives the team an incredible lift every time he plays. Right now we need him, Cheeck and Zaha back firing.

Does anyone remember a few months ago when he done the interview in the states saying how unlikely the sakho signing would be with the cost involved and it looking like a no go.

You regularly hear that a top team is after a player, they change manager and still buy him.

He was bought because he is different class to what we have. He brings so much to the team. Today he was sitting in the stands but the team were so good and thoroughly deserved something. He will energise us no end

Oh my God. I agree with rikz. The end of the world must be nigh

Utterly bonkers. We have 5/6 centre backs and 1 forward so what do we spend our budget on.....another centre back but this ones not even fit enough to play. Great player but not what we needed. This crazy decision will see us relegated.
