I can understand your concern. A relative has a friend in Florida who intends to 'ride it out'. It's the roll of a dice, I'd be more inclined to get out of the area.

Fingers crossed our kith and kin stay safe.

S'funny. None of the people that accuse me of being unpatriotic seem to be showing an interest in what's happening to subjects of her maj. Perhaps they only take an interest in our territories if they are invaded...

Also, gotta feel for the mexicans that are getting the Earthquake followed by hurricane scenario. Still they're all criminals and drug traffikers so doesn't matter.

You are so predictable it's getting funny.i sincerely hope they get all the help they need.
And for your information the army have already sent supplies and royal marines to the area.

It'd be a different reaction if it was Gibraltar too. A silence too predictable to bother highlighting.

Yes, the islands, mexico, florida all look to be in for more of the same. Mother nature can be vicious.

It's human nature. You're going to very concerned about someone in your family or a close friend who's in danger.
Then is there's an earthquake in your town you're going to be concerned.
If it's in the next county, less so.
A close country even less so, and by the time it's the other side of the world then yes it's sad but it's not going to keep you awake at night.

It's not unpatriotic or a lack of caring it's just how life works.

Snide comments that people aren't posting about the commonwealth is all rather silly.

Does the commonwealth mean anything these days? Not to me. We're hardly in the days of the British Empire.

Yes the damage and lives lost are sad for those affected but let's not go all 'Princess Di' every time someone we never knew dies.

You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name.

The Commonwealth means a lot to those who said we can have great trade deals with them post-Brexit.

Did we have a lot of trade deals lined up with Anguilla, Montserrat, the British Virgin Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Antigua, Barbuda and St Kitts and Nevis?

N Farage,2017:

"Our Commonwealth friends should not have to wait long now for us to rebuild a proper relationship"

Surely when some of our harder Brexiteers go on about rekindling links with the commonwealth, they don't just mean places where most inhabitants are white? Perish the thought

Here,we are not just talking about the commonwealth. We are talking about places that remain colonies British dependent territories, where we have a legal as well as moral responsibility for disaster relief (and prevention).

That's we are delivering aid.

Any navy ships or military personnel to help? Are we going to take on any of our Commonwealth cousins if need be.
