Said it before I believe SP is/has been so consumed by playing possession based football that he got suckered in by De Boer's style without really taking account of how hard changing a style of play is in the Premier league where any weakness is exploited and every point vital.

I'd take Bilic

FDB did of course win 4 titles for Ajax as a manager and this will always appear in the history books.

And Ajax hadn't won it for a few years when he took over so he turned around their fortunes, however I have already mentioned that Ajax had a terrific infrastructure including a well-renowned academy and they have been the main club in the Netherlands so perhaps his achievements there should be viewed in context. When I mentioned this on HOL I came in for some criticism !

We read reports of the Ajax supporters being bored by his tactics towards the end and it should be remembered that in his last season at Ajax they finished a 'Country Mile' behind PSV Eindhoven so a somewhat fall from grace. He then went on to Inter Milan where it didn't work out for him, however he wasn't appointed until August so he never had a vital pre-season with the team and there might have been other extenuating circumstances.

Point is, he came to us when his stock was not on a particular 'High' and of course he is under intense pressure at our club due to recent results etc.One can only speculate that if he wasn't the high-profile FDB would he have even been considered for the job at our club ?

Interestingly Ajax have not won the title since.

It's all pure speculation.
If Frank wins his next two games it'll all be forgotten about, and he'll be the best thing since sliced edam.

No they didn't. The league was decided on the last game of the season.

Not from me

Me neither but we were too negative and depressing.

It could all turn out alright and unlike some others I hope it does, but it won't by Frank doing it the way he intended not long after being given the job, which is where the problem is and will be a big factor if he gets sacked.

That's what I thought too.

The table tells a story though - they conceded 11 less goals (21 against 32) than PSV.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

I decided to check on this and what I looked at showed PSV finishing 17 pts clear of Ajax in 2014-15.PSV got 88 pts and Ajax 71 pts.

I was thinking that this was his final season but his final season was 2015-16 when the title was decided on the final day.Silly me !

I do understand that it did provide winning football and also the lump it forward to a big striker doesn't cut the mustard anymore.
I would like to see a mixture of both played at a higher tempo than we are currently performing at.

I prefer the 'winning football' approach to the generalised 'losing approach'. I don't think its reasonable to go from one approach to the completely opposite approach, almost overnight. Full backs don't overcome a career of instincts to become wing backs without lots of training and experience (or being replaced by wing backs).

Thing is, I think we looked good playing under Allerdyce, Pullis and Pardew (before it all went to s**t) and the attempts at 'progressing' were poor.

But unfortunately until those next two games have been played another couple of dozen new threads will have been started all on the same subject and with the same people saying exactly the same things

It really is small margins, isn't it. According to stats we had more and better chances against both Huddersfield and Swansea, and benteke could have got us a point against Liverpool. Anyone who watched the Ipswich game could see what a different team we were when we took the lead. Trouble is getting that lead..

As soon as he was linked I did have my doubts.

I know it's classic hindsight but it just seemed off - the fit wasn't right. For FDB to really be a success here he needs time and investment to which unfortunately in the PL can often be lacking.

The bulk of his experience is so incomparable to other leagues and scenarios it's hard to judge what he can apply to a club like our's.
