Fact, Sam spent £50 million, lost four out of his first five games, four out of his last five games and then got a fat bonus and retired.

Sam Allardyce and Sammy Lee saved us from relegation last season. That's a fact.

Does anything else matter?

£50m is it now. The amount goes up every time I look

Sam inherited an unfit team that had been grossly Pardewed and had to sort that out before thinking about winning games.

The nowhere near £50m that he spent left us with a far better legacy than he inherited

The fact (and this one is a fact, I'm sad enough to have this to hand) is that since 2011, with the exception of Pulis, all of our permanent managers have lost 3 or more league games on the trot. Obviously, the difference with FdB versus SA & AP is that we don't have any points on the board. In fact the last manager who lost the first 3 league games was DF - and the next 7 read WWDWWWW - so maybe a good omen

I wanted Sam to stay, but my point is that he has taken on some kind of Messiah status among some fans when I don't think he performed a miracle. You're right in that he recognised our key weaknesses, but to be fair most of the forum recognised those: no LB, unfit, no leadership at the back, no replacement for Jedi. He as a well-paid professional then addressed those areas.

We had a few great performances and rode a wave of momentum which is what Alex Ferguson once said was key. Get a couple of wins and things run in your favour. It happened for Pardew remember. This time two years ago we were second in the table behind Man City. We ended the season in a cup final, almost relegated and a manager who many wanted rid of.

I was probably a bit loose with the £50m fact bit, but it was definitely at least £40m. FdB has spent £8m so far. He may not improve things and then I won't be disappointed to see him leave, but let's not suddenly pretend that everyone was excited to see Sam join, or that everyone wasn't pi**ed at our early form under him.

I always support the manager in charge and once they leave they are generally nothing more to me (Coppell aside). The only exception was Pulis who I detested despite the results.

Fact, Liverpool want 30 million for Sakho, Fact, they can afford not to sell him and let him rot in the reserves, Fact, our idiot chairman offering less than 30 million will never purchase him. Fact, the mess we are in is down to one man and one man alone, and he ain't a Dutchman.....FACT!!!

Your facts are not factual.

Sam spend £30m on players plus the loan fee for Sakho, so, say £35m.

It's the Marilyn Monroe / James Dean situation.

By that I mean, they died young so we only remember them as young and good looking. They never grew old.

The link to Allardyce is he saved us and left on a high. He never outstayed his welcome so people remember his last home game, a 4-0 win rather than the last away game.

For whatever reason, and the official line isn't the real one, he retired rather than plough on because he knew his heart wouldn't be in it with so little money to spend and the squad needing major work.

I think I should have stayed away from numbers as none of us other than SP and the board know the facts.

PvA was apparently £9m, Schlupp £12m, and Luka undisclosed but thought to be £12.5, plus the Sakho loan fee and I would say that's nearer £40m or over if you include signing on fees etc.

It all comes down to how you present the facts anyway. For example, Sam lost 11 games last season in the PL. How many did Pardew lose? 11. The big difference?

Sam W7 D1 L11
Pardew W4 D4 L11

So basically Sam turned three draws into wins. That was the difference.

It's not that simple of course, but if you just looked at results then Sam suddenly looks only fractionally better. That's the problem with stats/facts.

Your first two facts are facts. Your second two "facts" are pure conjecture on your part.

You, like many others here are confusing reality with opinion. It's the way the world is these days, sadly.

Stop making up "fact" It's a tad hypocritical and removes the modicum of credibility you think you have.
