When a Manager calls his Players cowards in open forum that tells me he has lost the dressing room as he is openingly blaming his players for their match tactics and performance and not accepting that his management is partly to blame, additionally SP needs to get to grips with this on Monday and insist he changes his tactics to a more balanced approach, sell Andros for 27 mil to Leicester if rumour are true buy Sakho roughly for the same amount , then go out and buy a creative midfield player or 2 and a couple of forwards, without this Palace will be consigned to the Championship.

He didn't call the players cowards. Speaking in a language that is not his own he said they lacked courage. It's a different thing and I suspect the players - who he spoke to first - understood what he means. Well said. Saying that players lacked courage and calling them cowards are very different things.

A coward is someone who bottles out of something. Someone lacking courage is also someone who bottles out of something. Whether its a Dutchman saying it or not. Sounds like hes lost the dressing room already

A coward is someone who ALWAYS bottles out. Lacking courage, in this situation, means not wanting to take an attacking risk when for season after season you've been coached not to. Which I'd guess - and it is just a guess - is what he explained to the players before speaking to the press so they understood his comments. He's trying to change the system. We know this. They need to have more courage and belief in that system for it to work. Just my interpretation
Strike me down and I will become more powerful than you can ever imagine... hopefully. |

Sorry, but it came across to me like another case of his tactics being s***e and then throwing the players under the 'bus. Not impressed.

It's a bit more polite too, like when you say someone 'isn't ambitious' rather than they 'lack ambition.' But this is football and can attract people who are a bit fick. Some of the shyte you hear walking to the ground. Edited by Rudi Hedman (27 Aug 2017 12.05pm)

Maybe some 'Dutch courage' would help relax the nerves?
