I would not lose any sleep if we sold Townsend for £18m +. I feel he has 1 good match for every 5 non existent ones! Think we could get better for less money, and Burke would be a good option. He would be hungry, keen to prove himself and it could work really well as most teams seem to want to double up on Zaha so he may get some freedom early on.

Music to my ears you guys!

To me, the only plus from a 343 at the minute (not a big fan personally) is that up top we potentially have Zaha and Townsend out wide. Why on earth would we want to sell him? He should be starting in my opinion. Not liking any news out of Selhurst at the minute. Seems very disorganised with no sense of planning. If we insist on 343 we need the players to do it which a. means we must spend money and b. must not sell our best players. Parish being seduced by 'sexy football' could be a disaster. Pardew persuaded parish to keep him at the helm with a promise of a more 'expansive' style. I'm nervous lessons haven't been learnt. And yes, it is early, I know. And no, I'm not a knee jerker. Been on hol for a number of years. Rarely have I felt so worried. Yes you are.

To be fair to OP, you'd have had to be virtually catatonic to not have been slightly nervous after the Huddersfield match, as playing exactly that system against the big boys would have resulted in some absolute tonkings. But against Liverpool, FdB showed that he will adapt the approach for each match and it looks like against the big teams we won't try to play them off the park, but will still defend with our lives and try to catch them on the break. Against bottom half teams who come to Selhurst to try to do the same to us, we need to find ways to break them down and hopefully once FdB has a bit of time to get his ideas across, we'll start getting better at doing so through a greater emphasis on possession. Townsend has shown that he plays well under decent management as he was a different player under Sam than he was under Pardew. How can you say that Burke would be a better option when he had one good season in the Championship and failed miserably in the German top division. Sorry for posting on topic by the way

wrong, Southampton and Swansea did it on small budgets but wth emphasis on fab recruitment and youth investment. Its already been said FdB has ideas on long term time with a club, if that works out then in time that could happen. as for trying 343 formation, everyone on here second guessed he'd only stick to that formation, if anything after 3 competitive matches its for all to see that he is willing to revert to 433. He is not that stubborn. as for teams that keep the ball better, I think aside from the Leicester occurrence, where they have two world beaters up front and had one of the greatest DMC's in midfield at one point, most teams who play that counter attacking football are down the bottom end of the table. I'd rather emulate Southampton over the next 4 yrs over Burnley. The problem being is that both these teams started doing this in the lower leagues, and brought the philosophy up with them. This is a genuine question, and in no way a pop at anyone.
