Funny story, at 18 I was going to join the police force. I was bang on for it until I met my fellow candidates. Now that's TVP - but they were a bunch of f**king idiots, most of whom were attracted to the idea of getting into a ruck, rather than concepts as diverse as law enforcement and protecting the community etc. I realised I wasn't going to fit in and left. The benefits were pretty good, even as probabtionary copper the wages weren't bad, free accommodation was a available, lots of training, good career prospects into different and diverse fields and a reasonable salary with lots of overtime. Plus a good pension at a decent retirement age. These days you have to be a PCO (unpaid) for two years and pay for your own training - to qualify as a PCO - unsurprisingly this hasn't been a great benefit to recruitment - Pension doesn't look great, retirement age is high, and a lot of people are going into the police to then move into private security work. I don't think the police provide accommodation anymore either. There never has been less reasons to join the police than ever before.
As for you being against some officers being up for a ruck I think that's a bit off. Policing involves that, you most definitely don't want officers shy of getting bruises. Obviously though this needs to be tempered by common sense and control. What's important is that those chosen to police have a high sense of justice and fairness and control. However, we don't need scared Police officers. Physicality comes with criminality. Edited by Stirlingsays (23 Aug 2017 2.30pm)

Cabals within Police forces shouldn't exist, racial or otherwise. You would hope that the type of people who are allowed to join the Police were instinctively anti corruption. Bad apples should be rare and temporary. I think that the police aren't able to be too picky and I doubt that people go into the police are likely to be any more anti-corruption than in any other field.

And partly why I don't see the Police in the same way I use to growing up. 'Progressivism' has got hold of it. A natural conservatism in regards to the law is extremely important in raw recruits. A straight copper should be pretty uniform....not because of punishments if you're not but because that's the culture.

And off she goes again. The area in question is predominantly Asian. Therefore there will be a larger than usual Asian work force. Of course though, there's no corruption within the white police force. Institutional racism never happened either I suppose.

I don't think that gays are pedophiles? Not naturally more than any other group anyway. You have either made an outright lie here or you have a poor memory and confused something. This relates to your defence of Bubble Wrap I assume. If the Police themselves admitted to being 'Institutionally Racist' having gazed at their navels for years why would you second-guess them?

Being against his removal is not saying I think it's fine to say pedophiles are gay. He's wrong and so are you now.

I didn't say you actually defended him for that, it was truly horrible and indefensible. But I believe that is the reference referred to. Don't shoot the messenger
