His few decent games for Palace were in a 5/6 purple patch when Pullis was manager. Not even a championship winger, can't tackle , never scores, slows the game down and can't cross a free kick/corner.

Notice I didn't start my post with 'I like puncheon, but', or 'I know he's one of our own but', he's not , he's a journeyman that was never any good and ended up playing for his local team, that I doubt he supported as a kid. Stealing a living now.

His best period was straight after Pardew came in and moved him to the centre. Was really influential, and scored a few good goals too.

Don't think he'll ever be able to recreate that.

I can't remember that. At the end of the season (under Pullis), he scored a few goals in 5/6 games that pretty much kept us up. I might be wrong, may have been under Pardew. Either way, not good enough now.

I share the sentiment of most - it's not that he's a terrible player. But we've just got better options at the moment. Luca, Yohan and RLC is a very good centre midfield. Let alone McArthur.

Time to move on I'm afraid.

His dead ball skills are something else. Has the record for the widest penalty miss in Palace history, can't get a free kick anywhere near where intended, and the other team is more likely to score from his corners than we are.

I think if we're honest with ourselves, out strongest team is:

Hennessy

Tomkins - Dann - Riedewald

Fosu-Mensah - Luca - Cabaye - RLC - Van Aanholt

Zaha - Benteke - Townsend.

Unfortunately, there's no room for Punch.

There's no room for them. It's a 3-5-3, unless one of them is rush keeper. Probably better than Hennessey.

Puncheon has always frustrated me, but it used to be the case that just as I was starting to complain that he wasn't contributing he'd do something that changed the game. He hasn't done that for a long time. He's not even taking the corners any more and his free-kicks are more threatening to Kayla. He does do some neat little link up play, but generally in the middle of the pitch.

RLC I think could be the push that sees him drop to the bench. He seems to have the confidence to take up the mantle of leader in the middle of the park despite his youth. Him alongside Luka would form a formidable partnership.

Sorry Punch.

Shouldn't be anywhere near the team, he's been poor for a long time. Amazed he got the captaincy and even more amazed he seems to be one of the 1st names on the team sheet.

As someone else said, his free kicks, corners etc are like something you'd see in a Sunday league game.
