It's a disgrace. The Premiership is touted as the best league in the world and it certainly is exciting as lower teams with less able players are often able to win against the odds. However in many cases this is achieved through a series of tactics that involve near criminal assaults against the more talented players on the field. I know that the governing bodies are loathe to involve retrospective action but, if a player sustains a serious injury after a bad tackle from an opponent (which could be verified by an independent medical and refereeing panel), perhaps a retrospective red card for the player concerned would make his manager less keen to encourage the 'agricultural' brand of football that Wilf has to endure week in, week out. For now we need to provide some urgent attacking cover. We've, quite rightly, focussed recently on strengthening our defence but we're worryingly light on attacking options. Meanwhile, get well SOON Wilf.

Wilf & CPFC team do need to wise up a little as he will be targeted by all teams in the future. It is only what CPFC would do if the opposite team had a player like Wilf. After the number 2 for Huddersfield on Saturday got booked CPFC tactics should have immediately been to get Wilf to draw him into another tackle or mistake to get a second booking. Tactics so often used by Man Utd when Ronaldo was there Edited by shivie (15 Aug 2017 10.33am) In the second half the number 2 for Huddersfield stopped Wilf from passing him on the halfway line by holding and pulling him back with no other defender directly behind him.. a bookable offence and would've been his second yellow, but Jon Moss in his infinite wisdom didn't book him/send him off.. I don't think he even spoke to him..

The loss of Zaha for at least 4 games is a severe blow, even at this early stage of the new season.

Reading reports that Wilf is out of action with knee injury for 4 weeks I am not surprised with the buffering he gets every match, however I have no sympathy for the management who have dithered all summer not strengthening the squad which has been evident to most people Too much reliance by Club on Wilf. Confidence for this season is already dropping with not much hope of away win at Liverpool and with injuries already escalating.

If we didn't have such a deep squad and hadn't been practicing for such an eventuality I would be really worried. It's a good job we didn't waste him in all those pointless friendly games

Hang on there was a thread on here "Zaha left ground on crutches" and theres a link in there to an evening standard piece saying he's ok and its just precautionary. Hopefully its fake news/mindgames.

Not that it's definitive in any way, but Barclays Fantasy Football site has him as "Knee injury, 75% chance of playing" - they're generally pretty accurate with their stats/info . . .

Regardless of protection from the ref, none of them would give Wilf any decisions if they didn't have to, why aren't the rest of the team getting in the ref's ear?!

ok Willo, serious question !! Presume you watched the game...tell us why in your opinion Moss gave Wilf NO PROTECTION at all from the thugs in Huddersfields defence......and before you start NO im not saying he cost us the game, that was our fault entirely, but with his total ineptitude he may well have cost us the next 4 if Wilf misses them. I watched at least 6 fouls worthy of yellows on Wilf, not one was issued, as well as the holding on the halfway line which should have been a second yellow, not given...any ideas as to why this should be??
