It's a fair criticism ffs.

You are one of the better posters on here. Please tell me how playing in a different position can cause an injury. A fair criticism may have been that Luka should have played midfield in this new formation to become acquainted with it.

cant really blame the manager on this instance.

from what i see, and this is my opinion. whenever we lost the ball, it was pandemonium at the back with Dann. which suggests to me that our midfielders dont feel to comfortable with him there. When Sakho was at the back, he was a presence, he was vocal and calm. Both him and Luca had a connection the midfield and defence were more stable. alot of this i hope may have just been down to nerves, but it is very worrying to see

I went to the game on saturday, Luca was subbed off at HT. He looked to be injured after a tackle in FH. Does anyone have any info on weather he is or isnt injured?

Our boys looked like they had been beaten up on the pitch.

he was taken out by their Captain and was laying on the deck for about 30secs or so before he was then helped up and then limped around for the remainder of the half. Jon Moss let way too much go, but having seen that he was our players should've got stuck in as well, only RLC did.

Simply because different positions require different movements, sprints, ground coverage, metres run, etc etc etc etc. You can quite easily pull your groin playing in a different position by suddenly moving in new ways being a good example.

It’s fair to criticise the manager for not playing him in midfield during preseason - but to say that it caused an injury is a bit of a stretch.

Not really. Play a handful of friendlies in defence and then chucked back into midfield in the prem vs players who've played their handful of friendlies in midfield. I'd agree with you if it was the Croydon Sunday league however.

I think that will calm down, there was a lot of talking between Mensa, Jairo and Dann...partnerships take time, let alone when also trying to a new system. My concern is the ease in which Puncheon and Luka were bypassed, they're there to act as a 'screen' for the back 3 but Punch keeps taking Luka's positions and taking him out of the game in the process.

Or maybe it was because of the "heavy" tackle from behind by Mooy which went unpunished. Cant see how playing in a different position could possibly cause an injury!

It could do. It certainly doesn't help. Or is it now a good idea to play players in a different position all summer only to put them back in their natural position in the first league match. They do this at junior level in Holland to learn positions. Don't do it with our first team.

So you are saying you only use certain movements in certain positions! I have never heard such a lot of boll_cks, they all do the same training every day.
Maybe being kicked by the opposition is the reason for injury, de Boar should of known he was going to get injured and subbed him. Everything else seems to be his fault!

Yes you're right. Scott Dann, Benteke and Zaha do all the same movements in every match. How did I not notice. And they're exactly the same size as are all footballers. They're all identical.

Mili was holding onto his hamstring after a rather aggressive tackle, hopefully he's OK..

He was injured in a heavy tackle (as has been pointed out earlier, not even a foul according to Moss). However I have to say, to me, he looked well off the pace before that.

6+ yards away from where he should've been with Ward before their goal from the free cross. Both of them hadn't played in those positions. Not a good decision.
