Err yeah, to Man City and on their PL debut. We lost to a team who were making their PL debut, came up via the playoffs and are the bookies favourites for relegation, and we're in our fifth consecutive PL season. No crumbs of comfort in that one I'm afraid. Edited by bexleydave (13 Aug 2017 10.53am)
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

We did not have more chances than them. They continually looked dangerous going forward. We looked lost. Zaha was playing so central he lost nearly all effect it was a shambles as the 3-0 proved. Don't get why you're pretending otherwise. As for booing players, he literally passed the ball backwards every time. The noticeable one was from a corner he was the man we kept just beyond the halfway line. The ball came to him and rather than pass to either of the wise guys or put it in the box where our tall players were he turned and passed to henessy allowing Huddersfield to push up and be safe. It was ludicrous. We did, the stats show 14 to 8...which even with my GCSE in maths is greater.. [Link] As for passing the ball backwards..as others have said, he's grown up in a football environment (incidentally one FdB is trying to implement here) where that is the norm..but then you're proving my point about understanding and appreciating the time it takes to change thinking, both on and OFF the pitch. We must stick with the system as that's what we're committed to do...continually changing at the drop of a hat only brings uncertainty and confusion and prolongs the two. Any change results in time to accept and get used to it, its no different here, its just that so many people are now completely unrealistic in their expectations; as such i'm not pretending anything...I can SEE and EXPECT it to be a period of adjustment for the players we have as well as probably requiring new ones. FDB will have learned a lot no way will RLC not be in midfield again, Ward is no wing back, PVA is not a good defender, we need a leader at the back, Punch should not start and AT must start. Our strengths are Wilf AT Benteke RLC Cabaye they need to be used. Playing three/five at the back gives away the midfield. The two non palace players looked good so a negative positive.

Clearly fosu mensa and RLC were highlights and Townsend made an impact, i thought the back 3 showed promise but need to improve decision making when trying to move the ball around. RLC showed Puncheon how he needs to step up his game and Benteke needs to be more physical in holding the ball up. Its a new system so we need patience, booing players after 30 mins on their debut for passing the ball backwards which is what they've learned all their life to do says more about our luddite approach to football more than anything. There were positives you just need to look for then.. which most don't want to do Good post and my thoughts exactly. We fans are a fickle bunch and are prone to jump off the Wagon when a result isn't what we expect. But we need to give FDB time to bed the team into his system, which he has proved works. I think that the positives are just that and all that needs to e done is for the players to take those positives and turn them into goals.

Edited by Lyons550 (13 Aug 2017 11.05am) 14 to 8 was shots at goal, not chances. For example a chance of ours would be Townsend flashing ball across goal and benteke and zaha not getting on end of it. That wouldn't be within that 8 shots and nor would all of Huddersfields. We don't have time for change. We'll be relegated by time it works if it does at all. I don't understand why we're trying to change the way we play when the way we played last year worked just fine.

Yeah I think you need to read what I wrote before putting words in my mouth...where did i say 'clear' chances? The point being that the system is creating chances...even when we know it's not working properly yet and players are still struggling. It's all to easy to look at the negatives..it's a lazy stance that we're all guilty of but, just as seasons before the team will need us the fans to remain positive and get behind them...all too often we leave that until the last minute, but when we do it works. Booing players 30mins into their debut because we fail to understand their footballing education is poor beyond belief.

I'm sorry but your confusing up to 2-0 it was fairly even. After that we were chasing it and of course allowed extra space behind.
