If you don't learn a lesson, the lesson just repeats itself again and again and again and again.

On today's performance it looks like we're going to ship a s*** load of goals for the foreseeable, before someone has the bright idea of thinking maybe we should tighten up the defence, keep some clean sheets & and start executing correctly when the opportunity presents itself in front of goal..

Right, I know it's early days and I not suggesting to sack de Boer just now but he's either got to back him in the market for the rest of the window or suggest to mr de Boer that this isn't Palace DNA. The managerial search took over 6 weeks debating over whether what style suits the next Palace season. Unless we bring in players that suit this system or de Boer has a rethink about system. Can see this ending in tears. Is 8m and 2 loans enough to implement a new style. Half team want play football and half the team can't. It's a mess at the moment. Surely he knew that going from big Sam to FDB was a risk, in that he's risking our prem status. With mr dyche apparently happy to join, would of been a safer choice. Imo We wouldn't of lost today.

Do you lie any blame at parish door, with this appointment or is he unblameable ?

Holy f***

What subs did mr de Boer have at his disposal then?

If you mr parish back him in the market. He backed other managers who had a vast amount of experience in big Sam and Pardew. How is 8m plus 2 loans enough to implement a new style. Your obviously like other fans that think parish is immune from criticism.

How about we underprepared most seasons under his guidance. Last season jedinak played before transfer to villa. Bolasie was a sub. No decent strikers from the bench today. The most prepared we have been is the year we bought Cabaye and wickham.

We don't have the players for this fantasy system. Either parish backs him in the market or should of gone for someone who would of used the tools effectively like dyche. He gave pardew and big Sam millions. Why has de Boer only been given a poultry budget in comparison.

How do you know theres not transfers being worked on? I don't think its as straight forward as football manager to get all these players in.
I don't understand what your getting at about Jedinak and Bolasie either?

So do we throw the first 3 games because we underprepared for yet another season. If de Boer want Mensah why wasn't he bought in before the schalke match?

The problem with this wonderful counter-attacking game that apparently we're so brilliant at is that it relies on the other team pushing up and our defence being quick enough when the game goes back the other way. You don't generally have control of the game and when teams sit deep we haven't had the players who were able to break teams down. Before we get all dewy eyed about the end of last season remember we lost four out of the last five games including 2-0 at home to Burnley and a 5-0 thrashing by Man City.

Don't get me wrong, Big Sam did a great job in keeping us up and I would have liked to have seen what he could have done this year. He identified our two big weaknesses that being a lack of fitness and the defence being disorganised and he motivated the players and helped them get on a run which ensured our safety. In reality he wasn't here long enough to truly judge him. If Pardew had left at the end of his first (half) season and the first half of the following then I imagine our views on him would be very different too.

For me I want to see two things: progression in our play and signs that FdB has the tactical nous to adjust things according to what is happening in a game. The first point would be ridiculous to judge for at least half a dozen games, and the second part was seen today when he shifted things around and we looked a better (if not great) team.

If we're still playing as badly as we did today after half-a-dozen games with no improvement then I'll start to worry, but personally I think we'll see a big improvement next week even if we lose.
