Why not, we've improved every game in this system, one or two tweaks and can see this being effective. The negativity is unbelievable. Last season we lost 11 games at home. I do agree though about moving the ball quicker and passing for the sake of it.

Some would say the realism. We've six days for Frank to get that "tweaking" done so let's hope that he has his tweaking hat on.

I'm positive we're going to be struggling in a relegation battle all season, that we may well lose, if we don't wake up and start using our squad to play to our strengths. Is that the sort of thing you were thinking of?

This realism lark is all too easy Dave.

What you have to do is watch four friendly games in which only Wilf did anything that looks remotely positive and then make out you understand the system and playing people in the wrong positions and you will see it will all be OK.

Against Huddersfield if it is all going wrong apparently we can just switch back to the system that they already know how to play and that's it , job done.

I am in the I hope the likes of you/I are horribly wrong and Frank is a miracle worker.

Blimey, I thought we'd gIve frank at least a few league games before we start giving him a hard time.
Everyone said we needed a plan B, to find a way of winning home games, to find a way where we can win games when our wingers are closed down.
Now when we have a young talented foreign manager who's had success playing a different way, it's all doom and gloom.
Yes, it doesn't look great at the moment. But from what I've seen its got better every game; and there was some really good play at times yesterday . Yes we probably haven't got all the players we need to play this way. But a couple more purchases could make all the difference.

But for God's sake give the guy a chance.

I'm not as qualified as some on here, given I have not been to any friendlies so far this preseason.

That said, we have brought two players in that both seem to have started well - RLC and Jairo. And both quality players that will raise our level.

And I'm pleased that we are taking a quality approach finally to transfers. There has been so much deadwood over recent years.

My main concern is that looking back, everytime a manager has come in with ambitions to play a more expansive game, it's has typically led to near disaster.

If you look at our players now, Zaha, Townsend, Bentecke, Luka, RLC, Jairo, and more, I think we can start to feel confident that we are really starting to build a strong team. On paper we have a good squad.

That said, seems like we lost Cabaye already (unless he is injured ? mysterious ) so in actuality, we only have a net gain of 1 additional player. Perhaps losing Cabaye could turn into a blessing in disguise anyway.

We all hope FDB will be a miracle worker MK because if he is not we will be reassigned BFS to help the players avoid relegation. I can understand in pre season games all sorts of players taking part and playing new systems but to be playing Our best defensive midfielder out of position in every game worries me . FdB might be a bit stubborn which will mean he is going to be slow to change if it is not working. If that happens we will be in trouble.

Cracks me up...

Luka is playing RCB as we haven't got anyone of Premiership quality to play there. Hence loosing so many home games.

By all accounts we have a deal agreed for Chambers but are seeing if we can get Fosu-Mensah on loan.

I actually wonder sometimes how many people watch games. I thought we looked solid at the back in both our last two games. From what I'VE seen I don't think many teams will be doing us over.

Think the forwards need a bit more time to get used to the new formation but the back looks solid.

So yeah it makes me wonder if these people moaning about our formation have actually seen us play?

You mentioned about solid at the back, then dispensed the whole backline in this thread.

I saw us at times dominate one of the traditionally better German sides. Yesterday was like drawing against Tottenham of a few years ago or Everton. We didn't look better or worse than them

Yes it's only a friendly but are the Shalke fans worried about getting relegated this season? And they play the system they aged yday all the time.

If anything yday for me was inspiring.

We need to pass it quicker yes. And we will bring in two players this week or next I'm sure.

I saw all the games on TV and agree we have improved every game. Equally in every game we have been shown to be vulnerable to the ball over the top into the channels when we have been dispossessed going forward. I hope you are correct about the new signings because we will need them on our preseason showing. I am however optimistic about the new style but we cannot take too long perfecting it.
