Whatever, Townsend is absolute useless when it comes to defending! I think he's improved over the few games, it was ok for oxlade chamberlain and Moses. I think he playing there, until we find a back up but it's unlikely we're sign 2 right wingbacks, so maybe needed in this situation throughout the season. Edited by CPFC/SCCC (03 Aug 2017 10.30am)

I can see Palace selling Townsend for the right price- £20 plus. He right footed but likes to play wide left, I can not see him as a wing back. too much like hard work. We already have three left sided players who could play as wing backs . Palace need the money to to fund the purchase of Sakho. It was only the tail end of last season he put started to put any effort in and play well.

Townsend is an England international who is in his prime and who is performing well. Given the current inflated market I doubt we would let him go for less than £25m. When you consider Middlesborough are holding out for £25m from WBA (having reportedly turned down £20m) for Ben Gibson it puts these things into perspective. Townsend can play on the right side of the front three and should probably get more goals this season. He's a hard player to love in my opinion, but when he's playing well he is certainly a threat.

Wonder if all these Townsend rumours have been put out by his agent to get Palace to offer him a new deal.

De Boer would be mad not to want Sakho. If we didn't replace Townsend after selling him we may as well start selling the squad ready for relegation. Would selling Townsend to buy Sakho mean that? This whole thing of us being suitable for 3-4-3 isn't true (and why would we sell Townsend if that were the case) so it's a case of removing pieces of the jigsaw and replacing them. If we move backwards from having the threat of Benteke, Zaha, Townsend and Cabaye we'll have big problems. We need a central defender and a RWB plus a back up striker, without too much disruption or sales elsewhere. Where I think they'll happen is a sale in defence and/or midfield. Start selling our goal threat will be bad.

I'd love to see a fit Yannick Bolasie instead of Townsend as RF with no extra cost and a fit and quick RWB behind him but it's highly unlikely. If this story did have legs I'd get ready to take Stoke up to the £25 mil they received for Arnautovich and hurriedly start looking for a left footed forward to the side of Benteke. Damari Gray to Bournemouth for £20 mil wasn't it? 3 quality players in the front 3 is imperative, 3-4-3, 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. It's our DNA and Frank's as well.

Agree - when you think that Leeds want £20m for Chris Woods £25m seems about right for Andros.
