Michael is probably hanging out with all of his black, evangelical, non-binary gender neutral, gay, disabled friends.

All Scottish of course and living here.

FGM is barbaric. It is multi-culturalism at its best. Ripping off young girls clitoris.' We should have a day for it.

Oh if that were only what they do! In large number of cases they also cut away (glass shard, rusty knife old razor blade are often the tools of the trade) the labia as well and then crudely stitch the remains together, leaving just a very small hole for urine and menstrual fluids to drain out. This is frequently the cause of major infections for these women.
It also makes it so much fun for their husbands to be able to 'rip open' the perfect packaging on marriage - so much so, that a midwife friend of mine actually had a husband ask if she could be sewn up again (after they had had to cut her further open to give birth)

FGM is unacceptable full stop.

All I pick up from UpHimself's link is that she said its a cultural practice. It is...though that makes it no less unacceptable.

So,to know if what she said about FGM was dodgy,we'd need to more more.Based on her comments about homosexuality, she should (in my view) be expelled, after having rightly first been suspended;its called due process.

So,there is a dodgy Labour councillor...which makes Labour and its voters as culpable generally as the Tories and their voters generally for their rogue councillors...viz:28 July, Darwen Borough Council:

"The suspension of a Conservative councillor from all committees for allegedly using a ‘homophobic’ and offensive expression on social media has been confirmed".

NICE.

Can't we stop calling for the banning of people? It's getting like skittles.

It's an opinion....it's the wrong opinion but it's opinion. Banning people just drives these attitudes underground.

If the Labour party actually debated the shockingly high level of cultural relativism that exists with its grass roots it might learn a thing or too.....mind you...I suspect in reality they know.

Can you imagine the furore if the party didn't take action?

Can you imagine what would be out there if we allowed anything goes speech in the media?

It's yet another example of how males are treated compared to females.....apparently on girls it's called 'child abuse' but on boys...blah blah blah usual BS.

Personally I regard chopping off people's body bits to suit some religious or cultural practice as obscene and unacceptable. Cultural relativism is a disease of the left and appeasement right and I've always regarded it as dangerous nonsense in many forms.

I am not against this view being aired however and an argument made. She has a right to say it and it for it to be debated.

In a democracy the voice of the majority decides.

Pretty much my view entirely. Mutilation for 'cultural or religious reasons' on people incapable of giving consent is entirely unacceptable and a form of abuse.

Now if grown adults want to be cutting themselves up and about - that I guess is upto them. But its absurd to ever defend the rights of adults to cause harm directly to children.

Seconded....we live in a crazy world where God wants your foreskin or part of your clitoris before he'll let you play in his funtime mansion.

Or even worse it's for aesthetic reasons......Or to make the female's experience of sex so dismal that she isn't interested in it.

It's horrible, horrible.

Which is why FGM is a crime in the UK, and circumcision isn't. That said its adults committing a physical mutilation on children, for non-medical reasons.
