Not really answering the OP's question but at the time this was amazing. For the older Palace Fans. After beginning as an apprentice at Crystal Palace,Steve MacKenzie signed for Manchester City in 1979 for £250,000, then a record for a teenager. The move attracted considerable attention because MacKenzie had yet to play a Football League match for Crystal Palace. He spent two seasons at Maine Road, and his second season coincided with the replacement of Malcolm Allison with John Bond and an upturn in fortunes.

Lewis Grabban for me. Thought he'd be our next Ian Wright. I also thought that Joniesta would have been a star in our team now as well (I know injuries have not helped)

Kieron Cadogan and Keiran Djilali both looked very good when they broke into the first team. Bags of energy, pace and direct. Still think that they might have done better with the right manager in place. Didn't they come through under Burley? Now playing for Sutton and Three bridges respectively. Technically he is now – he's still at Huddersfield, although he only made 16 appearances for them last season so may not get too many opportunities in the premier league, but we'll see. Would be good to see him popping up with a goal or two, although obviously not on opening day.

I saw Nathaniel Pinney was playing for Eastbourne Borough recently. I had thought he'd be a bit better than that.

here's hoping that Reise Allassani goes onto bigger and better things, after his ACL injury....but until then, he;ll have to go onto this list!?

Cadogan was quality when he first came through and was held up there in the same respect as zaha, on all the palace posters and magazines. Real shame about how he dropped off, can't really remember what happened, did he just stop getting picked? Allasini looked class and was so promising, everyone around the England u21's said he was going to be a future star. Shame about him not making it for us but he may go on to have a good career

That's interesting. I've always had quite a soft spot for him and hoped he'd do well, but less so if he's a cocky sod! I don't know about the others, but my Mrs has met Victor Moses several times and says he's quite a quiet guy but a generally nice bloke. Backs that up. Sean Scanell was never cocky. Quite the opposite. He was lazy with his time keeping but used to get the bus or a cab when playing for us. Knew his Dad at the time he played for Palace who was a nice chap too.
