Can Townsend be a successful wingback ?

Our two Left Backs would be comfortable as wing backs but we don't have anyone on the other side. We would have to get two new players in. As for AT. Not a chance, and as a previous contributor has said it would be a waste of his talents,

If we persist with the 343 then Townsend should be contesting to be one of the 3 up front not one of the 4 . We need to buy a RWB if we are playing this way

We are also wasting the talent he has by playing him there. Rather than spend a fortune on Chambers I would buy a quality player who can play right wing back.

I think chambers will be coming in as Rcb rather than a wingback but I suppose that similar feelings were said at Chelsea, when Moses played there. Wingbacks are specialist positions, you need a good 'engine' to up and down the pitch. I really disappointed we didn't get Trippier when he left Burnley. He would of been perfect. I think he's currently injured at the moment by Moses obubajo of hull plays that wingback role.

I've seen your happy to rip up the squad, but with an inexperienced manager of the league. You need as many players with that prem experience.
