Problem is, when you can be considered a celebrity for being on a TV show about people watching TV then pretty much everyone is a celebrity. So how do we classify celebrity deaths? That said, I'd consider Bono to be a celebrity of sufficient magnitude if the Celebrity Reaper is listening. Cheers.

These bit part actors and band members are not celebrities in my book.

I would suggest that a celebrity, at least requires a body of work, that spans at least two different genres or mediums. Stephen Fry, is a genuine celebrity, having been both an actor, writer and a presenter successfully. Its the difference between celebrity (as in celebrated) and being famous. Anyone can be famous if they want to be. Not everyone can be a celebrity.

I propose we pin this post so we know who to lament the loss of in future.

Actually, to test this out I am going to list some "celebs" and I want Jamie and Painter to both say yes or no to each one for whether or not they class them as a celeb. Saying "would" is not an option:

Yes = Celebrity No = Famous or Known Urban definition of Celebrity There are some celebrities that are actually good like people who save someone or develop theroies, medicine and technology to help the rest of humanity
