And that friendly at Crawley just after Jordan took over the club !

Was that the game that got Sir Steve fired? Or is my memory way off on that one?

Only pre-season friendly I've ever been to see live. I remember wondering how we'd get a single point in the PL...

When I go to football with my wife she has this habit of going "Sorry my love" when Palace concede a goal. She means well but she has no idea how much it puts my back up. Say nothing. Anyway, I remember her saying that four times at the Broadfield, followed by "Oh dear, looks like they need to buy some players before the season starts". I was too seething to say that Jose Campana was supposed to be the next big thing and all of our new signings were on the pitch!

Thinking about it, my wife has seen about 10 Palace games and they've lost 4-0 in three of them! She's not coming to football with me again.

No, you're just a week out. 7 days later we had a "friendly" against Millwall. Sir Steve parted company with us after that+. (We lost 6-0).

Remember that Millwall game. Didn't Clinton get all sorts of stick?

Maidstone advertised it as our First Team and have sold a record number of tickets. This happened last years as well at another club. Sell the tickets then play the kids.

This is why I don't go to pre-season friendlies but also part of the reason why they're so cheap.

Wait so what has come out about this?

I'm driving up to Maidstone purely because I have the football itch and just wanted to see Palace.

I know preseason friendlies feature a raft of changes but generally speaking (the Crawley game for example) most of our first team start and then the kids come on for 2nd half.

Has there been a statement to say we're only playing reserves now? Not sure I fancy that trip not to see any of the actual boys that will feature next season.

I am going. Me and my three sons. £21 for all of us. Hopefully the weather's nice and it breaks the gap between end of one season and start of the next one up a bit. As long as everyone going makes a good atmosphere of it singing drumming an f brining the fortress selhurst vibe with them it should still be a fun afternoon out

Thanks, should of checked website before posting, laziness on my part.

Well I'll still go, you usually only get 45 minutes of some of the first team anyway.

I do agree with Maidstone fans and don't see it as them spitting dummies. This has been advertised everywhere as our kick off to the new season and you'd expect it to be a real friendly.

This is an under 23's match and they wouldn't of sold half the tickets if it would have been advertised as such.

Bit cheeky from the club.

This was the first game when Palace supporters saw Jordan in the stands - might have been just days after he took over.Later in pre-season we suffered that defeat at Millwall and it was reported that Jordan berated Coppell behind the scenes with others in earshot.

It was Coppell who instigated the meeting with Jordan regards his position and the meeting ended with both having agreed it was best for them to part company.
