Looking at the 25 man squad released for Asia cup. We still short of at least 4 to 5 players minimum. While Sagna not ideal, he does have prem experience, whereas RLC and the potential signing JR have little or none. Tinges of apprehension about our prospects this season ? If FDB doesn't know too much about the PL it might come as a bit of a shock to him as reality sets in. We have to remember that FDB had all his managerial success at Ajax, a club that has been a top and revered club in The Netherlands for many, many years with their academy, the players they have produced, their successes and their history. They are respected and well known throughout the world. He comes to a club which fights a perennial relegation battle in the PL,in a run-down stadium and an infrastructure that has been questioned. And we are in the PL which is far removed from the Eredivisie.Might be a bit of a shock to him when the PL gets under way, indeed he might already be taken aback by certain things. I of course wish him all the luck in the world. Edited by Willo (13 Jul 2017 12.19pm)

With needing 5 or 6 there's going to be at least 1 we're not doing cartwheels about. Just hope that one or more can at least play because Flamini, Bumfluff, Remy and Adebayor couldn't or may as well not have. Who will it be this time?

I think if we have the oppurtunity to take Sagna for the season, we should do it. We have no natural right-backs other than Ward, Sagna offers a far greater attacking threat than Joel and could be used against the "weaker" teams at home where we have always struggled to break them down. Having attacking full backs on both the left and the right side would help this issue. From memory, he doesnt tend to get injured either.

If FdB intends to bring in younger talent there is still room for a seasoned Premiership player like Sagna. It would also give our right hand side a bit more of an attacking intent! I hope we go in for him (partly to p*ss West Brom off) and he wants to come to South London (least it rains less down here).

And after he won four or five titles and left they then didn't win anything. To assume his time at Ajax was just down to them being fantastic is just somewhat uneducated. I was certainly not decrying FDBs efforts and achievements at Ajax, just pointing out that they have been an established club in The Netherlands for many years (Think winning the title 30 times ?), they have been renowned for their academy and the players that have emerged from it, they have a terrific infrastructure and this is a far cry from our club at the present time, not forgetting the fact that the PL is much more demanding than the Eredivisie. FDB won 4 titles with Ajax - If he is here for the 3 years of his contract and we finish comfortably in the top half without any real danger of relegation each season then arguably this will be a greater achievement than his titles in The Netherlands.
