I thought he was comparatively poor last season, but that doesn't mean he's finished. He was our backbone prior to that, and I'me sure he can be again. Playing with proven players like Sakho and/or Tomkins should help with that.

He'll be back!

Fact is Sakho made Kelly look half decent and I'm still convinced that was down to Sakho. Tompkins went from looking average to quality next to Sakho and Dann never got a chance to spend any decent time playing next to Sakho. The common denominator is that our struggling CBs looked class next to Sakho, so when it comes to first choice pairing, I'm not too fussed who gets the nod as long as one of them is a top quality CB we buy, Sakho or someone else.

Also I'm sure at times we will play 3 at the back so they will all get their chance. As well as that, the injury record of our squad suggests that cover is going to be needed. I doubt we will see 1 player sitting on the bench all season, and I think the gulf in class between the two of them is very narrow, we will see both.

In effect Luka replaced Jimmy.
Sakho was partnered with Tompkins.
If Sakho or AN Other do not sign I am sure Scott will get back in the 11.
Jimmy Mac will be on the bench.

Dann had only played in the prior game due to having no other options and was essentially playing through a knock if I remember correctly.

We're the Arthur over ere!

no one can deny that Dann had a big wobble last season but he shouldn't be written off. If we get one very good CB in, a Sakho or similar, that takes pressure off of Dann and Tomkins, means they perform better, concentrate on their game rather than bossing the back line, and we have a solid CB trio to call upon i.e. our new guy and one of Dann/Tomkins

I think Dann at his best is better than Tomkins at his best. If he gets over his injury properly and has a full pre-season under a proper coach, hopefully we'll have an amazing defender back.

There's always a goal threat when Dann's on the pitch. Tomkin's missed some sitters.

There was always a goal threat, when Leon Cort was on the pitch. Scott dann 30, if we do bring in Sakho, we need a younger cb aswell.

Why?

He missed Stoke so your obviously correct and he was carrying a knock.

If Scott dann is that good, why didn't he make the England squad, when he was in peak form. I like Scott dann, but Sakho 10X The player.

a) he was carrying an injury
b) he isn't a captain, and was more assertive before he was made captain.

Great defender plus a huge offensive threat at corners. We need three CBs, Scott Dann should definitely be one of them, although I agree Sakho (if we get him) is better, but then Sakho is superb.

I can't really believe we're even discussing it.

Spot on. And as others have said, he's a goal machine.
