Probably just biding our time. SP will know no club will pay 30m for him. Waiting for the price to come down, Klopp will not want to keep him in the squad. I'm still confident.

I just can't see him leaving for anywhere at £30m, surely we have a chance with a £25m offer. That won't be all up front payment. Really if Schlupp (a squad player) is worth £12m then Sakho; top grade CB in his prime, is worth around double for us to pay. The budget won't allow us to spend even 20m on a centre back. Too many fans hanging onto false hope. De Boer has different plans.

Stoke are allegedly interested but only if Liverpool will drop their price to something more sensible but if that were to happen I guess that we would move back in - unless we have snapped up a bargain in the interim Why would de Boer want to spend his whole budget on a player that may not suit his possession style. I'm not denying how good he's been for us. With at least 4 players needed. If the budget is 40m for instance, it doesn't leave much room for other improvements to the squad.

I not sure why spending 30 million on Sakho would constitute our total playing budget...what did we get for staying up last year ?

Klopp obviously doesn't think Sakho is really worth 30m either or he'd play him. It will be interesting to see what Stoke bid. Parrot

Wages increasing year on year, Wilf has allegedly just tripled his to over £100k per week. Then you have other players who have signed new deals, all likely to be on improved terms. If you look at what has been reportedly spent so far this window, and we are only a few days in, the madness will get worse. We need at least 4 players, most of whom will probably command around £40-50k a week minimum. If we ship a few out, their replacements will probably be on at least the same money. Say we got £3 million for Mutch, we would have to spend at least double if we are lucky to replace him. Then there's the ground............................ I believe we made a loss last year, when you account for the spending in the January window. Even so, out best year in the premiership saw us turn around a 30m profit. So, yeah, 30m on a single player is a big ask. Especially when historically we've stayed up three out of the four seasons on the basis of our defending without a 30m defender. And that 30m doesn't include his wages (presumably he'd want around 100k a week. I'll be surprised if anyone matches Liverpools ask. He'll go on the last day of the transfer window, to whoever gets 'closest'

The players have only just come back for pre-season training under a brand new manager. After assessing the squad for himself over the coming days and weeks, the new man will likely have his own ideas about any new personnel required and how much should be spent to bring them in. I'm sure he and the board will do all they can to improve the squad as they see fit while the window is still open. I'd still love us to sign Sakho permanently, though!

I'd hate to see him go to another team in the PL, especially for one of similar size to us like a Stoke or West Ham.

Sakho will not fetch £30 million, eventually a lesser fee will be negotiated by another club.
