The need to see something that's not exactly desirable to see. I reckon everyone knew but were over ruled by a deep seated desire to see a disaster.

Well less so now, as their prospects are massively improved with the father out the way, and the mother almost certainly going to prison. Also, how come they've got an Encyclopaedia, and have access to the internet.

Far less hilarious but no less damning as to the risks of simply having a gun in the house, a father shoots his 9-year old daughter while educating his sons as to the danger posed by his gun. Mission accomplished?
