Intelligent? For the left, their politics is more like a religion, more of a blind faith, a belief in a golden future - like religious peoples' heaven. It takes a lot for them to admit they might be wrong: in the 1930s they clung to their faith in Stalin's Russia despite what the unintelligent non-left could plainly see (apart from intelligent, honest people of the left like Orwell). Not really. It got someone some funding. People will have attitudes that reflect their circumstances and favour their own interests. Those who are less well off or feel mistreated by society will tend to blame others. Those who are doing well will tend to see the environment as favorable. We are all guilty. It doesn't look like the article has come with a socio-economic angle, which in itself is worth a separate study if one hasn't been done already, but has focused solely on 'intelligence'.

Is it feasible that a right wing ruling party could look at a report like this and think that it was in their interests to avoid improving standards of education nationwide? Especially in areas like the midlands where they have increased their support? Hypothetically obviously.

Historical instances of political movements being vehemently against foreigners, particularly following a worldwide economic depression as an example perhaps?

So you've proven nothing other than that you're a bit of a tit and not very funny. In a short defence of Abbott, if you actually knew anything about her you'd know that your statement is nothing other than mud slinging based on mistakes in a couple of interviews. If you actually knew anything about her background and record over the last 30+ years you'd think differently. Her constituents clearly see the work that she's done and rewarded her again this year with huge numbers of votes and huge majority. The attacks on Abbott on here and in the wider press have been nothing short of shameful. She's held to a much higher standard than other politicians simply because she's black and a woman. Theresa May had a far worse campaign and even lied about making u-turns, and while she has subsequently come under attack for her failures she's not been subject to the level of abuse that Abbott has. The reaction and scepticism surrounding her illness is another example of people, especially in the press, giving Abbott a much harder time than other politicians.

No more seriously, I think the big problem here is when people argue about who is more intelligent, left or right, they tend to forget that people are stupid, ignorant creatures, with an inflated sense of their own ability. I don't generally trust people who think they're intelligent, or more intelligent than other people.

So supporting the only party that was willing to fight for immigration controls for Europeans means you are 'vehemently against foreigners'.

No, I would say that UKIP voters took a very reasonable view that uncontrollable immigration was detrimental, and that staying attached to a failing political experiment called the EU was likewise. Whereas, because of their 'intelligent' beliefs, the left think otherwise.
