31 years old. not sure you'd get all that much money for him. big clubs aren't interested and mid-tier aren't going to pay big money to a mid-fielder that age. the cost to replace him is probably more than we'd get.

No - We wouldn't get more than £10m for Cabaye and as a player he is worth more than that to us

I sincerely hope that, whoever takes over, doesn't try to impose their favoured system on us without finding out what works best for us. There's a case for going 4-4-2 under certain circumstances during a game, but to play that formation whatever is the hallmark of the dinosaur, especially when you're up against sides with five in midfield and might explain Burnley's abysmal away record. We need some open thinking, not a Mike Bassett-style "Palace will be playing 4-4 fcuking 2". Agree. Luckily this has been emphasised by Parish. The motto of the new manager should be "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". He would be very foolhardy to preen down Pards Street.
“ [T]here are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say there are things that, we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns – there are things we do not know we don't know. ” |

No I wouldn't sell Cabaye. Our midfield, along with the defence are weak and have no backups of any quality. Punch, Cabaye and Milo are just about our strongest midfield trio at the moment. Jimmy Mac really wasn't at it last year. We need to strengthen midfield rather than diminish it.

End of thread as it looks like the Sakho deal is dead.

Agree he's worth more to us than the money we'd receive. I'd say he's still got 2 maybe 3 seasons left at the highest level. Although I'm sure he won't play every game. Class player

In these days of unbelievable prices for potential targets we need to look at natural wastage. Cabaye is a Palace player, Sakho indicates that he would like to be a Palace player. For the former, we will get nothing like his replacement cost; the latter is a Liverpool asset that who can be expected to decline in in value. Keep one - buy the other in the last two weeks of the transfer window or earlier if reality strikes Liverpool. COYP

Who do we get in place of the adulterous Frenchie?

Sadly Sakho at 30m plus 120k per week wages is a luxury we can't afford. We need another striker and a midfielder 30m could buy both.

Would love to keep cabaye, been a fan of his for quite a while now and don't see any reason why we would have to sell him for skaho. We have the money to keep both, unless an offer for cabaye comes in too good to turn down. But as an answer to the original question, yes I probably would sell cabaye to buy sakho if I had too. However I think we would suffer for it

Mind games are being played. SP says he does not have a lot to spend - Mr Klopp is looking for £30M. Who will be happier to compromise?

Why would either need to compromise as if Southampton sell their major asset for £50m I'm sure that they won't worry too much about buying Sakho and having £20m left over in the bank
