What a relief that was
Who is he and what has he done ??
Oh yeah , he got relegated with Hull !

Perhaps this was a done deal way before Sam decided to take a longish break ? Even if Hull had stayed up he might well of left due to the owner. The Watford deal could of been set up a fair few weeks ago via their foreign owners, as they knew Mazzari was going to leave.

Marco Silva seems such an attack minded coach and I don't think Watford are ready for that. They'll need to sell a few and buy a few this summer...and those they sign will need to be real quality (for bargain prices). They could get found out after an impressive start.

I wouldn't want to see Palace going gung go with the squad we have.

You just need a few weak links and that sort of system can fall apart.

Silva looked the part, like many Politicians, but not proven as yet. We do need an experienced top level manager to move forward and whil
st he may not have the charisma and youthfulness of Silva, Roy Hodgson may well fit the bill. Ex Palace as well and knows the passion of our fans.

Yes Face, you took the words out of my fingers...Silva is the difference between Italy and England - a technician. I can see Roy Hodgson coming here, for those reasons, and he started his career here. Yet to be convinced he's the best choice, but I needed to be convinced with Sam. And if Roy comes, he probably doesn't have all his own staff anymore, so we keep Sammy Lee. Starts to sound good, I think.

Lee and the rest of Sam's entourage will be gone by January, when he fetches up at the next relegation-threatened club. God forbid that the owners think that Hodgson is our future.

I'm not so sure this will be happening again next season. Fat Sam had a 2.5 year contract and as we know, Parish is not only good at nailing down contracts but making sure the spirit of them is honoured. SP let Pulis go but expected Pulis to behave within the spirit of the agreement, and when he failed to do so Parish pursued him and won. I doubt for a minute that Parish hasn't put some clause on Fat Sam preventing him from popping up again next season, and if he does, I would expect another court case.

That's totally ridiculous and you know it, there is no way in a million years that Ranieri would come to Palace!

We know what the terms are as they been widely reported; we receive compensation if he takes up employment with another club within two years. Paying compensation won't be an obstacle to a club facing the trapdoor in December and needing a miracle. This isn't like Pulis, Allardyce' contract had a break clause after six months, which he chose to exercise.

I would have thought this was the case for sure.

I like Silva and think he would have been a good choice, but it's entirely possible that the club contacted him and were told that Watford was pretty much a done deal and he wasn't really interested so didn't pursue him further.

He might well make a name for himself at some point, but Croydonlad is right, 2 weeks ago he looked beaten after 2 minutes. I know it was a bad start for them, but we know that Palace will be up against it at some point next season and we'll need players - and a manager - who are up for that. Silva didn't seem to have that.

Didn't know that so cheers. Hopefull the compensation would be most if not all of Sam's bonus.

I really don't get why he's said to have done such a great job at Hull.
He seems like a classy guy but when it came to the crunch his team threw in the towel in those last three games. They lost at home to an already relegated team followed by two hammerings where they conceded eleven goals.
I wonder about his motivational skills, when his team played us they seemed to cave in very easily.

Spot On !!!
