What is all this Hodgson nonsense, he is a broken man drawing his pension. Hardly an ambitious inspiring bloke, he would have Benteke taking the corners.

Of course I want the next manager to be hear more 2 years would be a start but if we went for silva and we were hovering above the bottom 3 in Nov/Dec then we'd be looking for yet another firefighter. I don't want hodgson I suggest he could be a safety manager like big Sam and Tony pulis was in previous years.

I'm really hoping that whoever SP et al appoint they make a clear statement of intention that we're an ambitious club with aspirations to do more than survive.

As such most of the names being banded about just wouldn't do that.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

The only thing he'll extinguish is our bank account!

I think I'd take a season off if he was appointed, I'd hate to see us go bust again!

You think Hodgson is an impact manager?

It is a little worrying that if we do end up in trouble at Christmas, we've exhausted the obvious saviour figures.

An interesting juxtaposition of words .. "Christmas" and "saviour". Let's hope we are not in a position come December where only divine intervention will save us.

It's not this appointment we should be worried about, it will be the manager that takes over in November. Lol

That's my worry too. Unless we could persuade Big Sam to come back for a few months and another tidy £2m bonus?

That's why it worth parish taking time to appoint the next boss. I know he signed a new deal at Celtic but what about Brendan Rodgers.

The worry is the time and the transfer window. In the past we have appointed a manager mid season and they have stayed through the transfer window, recruiting and more importantly tying up contracts. Pulis went mid transfer window and did leave us in the lurch. Players may get itchy feet if a new manager is not pinned down quickly and early transfer targets may also be lost to rivals.

Often it is better, easier,to make a decision when the clock is ticking and your under pressure - as December 2016. With maybe weeks to consider all possible options the decision can become harder to make - particularly when there is no obvious choice as there was with Sam.

I think so, I mean, we don't want another Parish and we want to keep players who we want, happy. We also saw what fantastic effort the lads put in for Sam, you don't want to lose that.

I want a manager that keeps it up. What luck hey.

Could Not have said it any better. It's the time for SP to be BOLD.
