Maybe it means that we need to get better players in the "scapegoats" positions.

Maybe it means we've missed the point. Ward and Kelly are both better with Sakho there. So is Hennessey. Milivojevic and Puncheon are both better with Cabaye there. Benteke and Zaha are better with Townsend there.

We need to side put which combinations are good and which aren't, and being in players who not only at well but improve the players around them.

Who would you blame then?

As BS said, had we have made more of that first minute opportunity then it could have been a different story.

Two poor pieces of defending and we were punished. In all probability if you were asked who are the players most likely to make costly errors in the back four, I bet most would say Kelly and Ward.

Kelly has done ok when called upon without ever suggesting he could be a regular starter. Ward's performances have improved slightly under BS but he needs real competition for his place and see how he responds to that.

It seems to me every time we lose that it's always the fault of puncheon, Hennessy, ward or Kelly. Whereas these are weak areas of the team. The performances of many this season of entirety has been poor excluding Zaha. Where we'd all like to see these areas improved in the summer. Weren't all this players involved in the great victories against arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. The blame culture well and truly started when pardew arrived. I included myself of being guilty.

It was definitely the fault of the Man Utd side. Similarly against Man City. They, unsurprisingly, were much better than us.

If any of those players were of a calibre to be the equal of the opposition in those top sides, then they'd probably not be Palace players.

Turns out Silva and De Bruyne are much better players than Puncheon and Kelly....

It astonishes me that this needs saying, that without our best players in the team, we're not as good as usual. And yet people seem to think that players like Puncheon should be able to compete against world class players. I bet Man Utd paid more for any number of those kids out there yesterday, than we did for Jason.

Not blaming anyone. Just offering a possible reason for scapegoating.

But seeing as of all people have asked me, I'll just say Wayne Henessey to rile you on a Monday morning. X

I meant who would you blame for defeats if WH, Ward and Kelly all left?

Very true. Also if puncheon, ward and Hennessy didn't play who's sufficient enough to replace them in the last 3 months(You can't just buy someone when the transfer window shut). Sam had one window. He indentified the weakness at Lb and the need to replace Jedinak. So let's trust Sam judgment to improve squad. If the same issues apply. I'd understand the constant grief puncheon, ward and Hennessy get.

The blame for most defeat lies with the manager, however Sam had 1 transfer window. The squad he inherited is mostly pardew. Let's judge after august.
